***Important*** *Wear a mask when you leave home* *New study from MIT*.

@MIT's Dr. Lydia Bourouiba warns: “pathogen-bearing droplets of ALL sizes can travel 23-27 feet.”

She also warns: “droplets that settle along the trajectory can contaminate surfaces”—and “residues or droplet nuclei” may “stay suspended in the air for HOURS.”
Flushed face

These data strongly suggest that EVERYONE should wear #masks outside home
, but healthcare workers & people at high-risk for serious #COVID19 need them MOST.

Given the global shortage of #Masks/other #PPE, Trump must invoke the #DefenseProductionAct NOW

I'll use a scarf until I can make a mask. There's directions on the internet for making them, some don't require sewing.

A sneeze coming at you looks like a freaking sideways tornado, shooting virus particles at your face!

If somebody sneezes, I may just turn and run.

Water at 100 C (212 F) makes kills just about all pathogens.

It is possible to contract the virus through the eyes, not only by touching them, but the droplets can infect a person directly through the eyes, even though the most likely transmission is via the nose or mouth.

I am constantly itching and touching my eyes, to the point where I barely even notice it, so the glasses/goggles would also provide a barrier until I was able to get a chance to wash my hands.

https://www.aao.org/eye-health/tips-prevention/coronavirus-covid19-eye-infection-pinkeye

"When a sick person coughs or talks, virus particles can spray from their mouth or nose into another person’s face. You’re most likely to inhale these droplets through your mouth or nose, but they can also enter through your eyes.

You can also become infected by touching something that has the virus on it — like a table or doorknob — and then touching your eyes."

That is it. If you can breathe through a mask then something that is airborne can go through a mask. That is science, like it or not. This virus infects by people touching something that is infected and then touching your face, mouth, nose. A mask prevents that. Any kind including a bandanna. Medical masks are not needed except by medical professionals who are working with covid patients.

The virus can ride in droplets that will be caught by even a bandana. Moreover, even for smaller particles, the bandana serves as screening so that not as many get through to your nose/mouth. Even N-95s don’t block 100%. There are multiple research sources online validating all of this.

The CDC should have known better than to discourage mask wearing. It’s unconscionable. If they were concerned about health providers not having enough, that’s something different. If they were concerned about people handling their own used masks in a way that might infect them, that’s something different as well. What they were saying made no sense and it’s unfathomable to me that they were touting it as truth.

It is unconscionable that anonymous internet posters are attacking the career professionals at the CDC. If you want to go around wearing a mask more power to you. I won't and no one who knows the science will either.

and you get less virus replicating in your nasal passages and throat. Same reason that nasal lavage and gargling with salt water make coronavirus illnesses shorter and less intense. Less virus = less sick and less spread to others.

I just found some masks in garage but haven’t been to store since I found them. Trying to go only once every 2 weeks now. Its been a week and we are doing ok other than feeling closed in like everyone else.

It started out only 3 cases in my area and now 21 with a bunch of people tested.
