What do the Tea Baggers, Conservatives, Republicans and Libertarians all have in common?

My observation is that they can pick and choose when it comes to compassion, memory and evidence.

The media moguls who spread the story that corona only killed the old, knew their target audience. They knew that their audience would rather indirectly cause the death of innocent people than to miss a day of church. They knew that their target audience would be able to use the most sociopathic excuse anyone has heard in a long, long time and not even consider how heartless their behavior was as they marched out to listen to a sermon that defended the rights of unborn children.

Tea Baggers, Conservatives, Republicans and Libertarians can be compassionate, brave and intelligent. They can even be insightful. However, they can also choose what they remember and choose what they believe. They can insist that they take the King James Bible word for word while ignoring what the words said clearly inside it. They can teach genetics and deny evolution. They can cry for all unborn children while ignoring the need for prenatal care among the impoverished. They can use a computer to argue that science is stupid.

Tea Baggers, Conservatives, Republicans and Libertarians can turn off those qualities that make a person human.

They are the exact opposite of everything this country is "suppose" to represent.

They don't believe in facts.

They don't believe in science.

They don't believe in math.

They don't know the history of the world or this country.

They worship the Prosperity Gospel.

They are my enemies !!!

The people you describe lack human integrity. They won't integrate their beliefs -- Jesus' Two Great Commandments -- into their everyday living. It's what John Calvin called humans' essential depravity.

Teas, cons, repubs, etc., think they know what's good for others when they don't know what's good for themselves. They think jungle ethics is basic and all this society construct stuff is fake.

Those who have integrity can see them better than they can see themselves.

A philosophy that provides excuses one for being a heartless bastard, and then offers redemption for their sins.

One thing would help Trump beat this virus, alas it's something he will never have, empathy.

They worship the wealthy, and they love bullies. They may hate the wealthy, but their heroes tend to be rich or dead. When you watch them in church, the people they listen to and respect are the ones with the most money. When a rich person says that minimum wage will make everyone poor, they will listen intently. Their favorite sources of news are hateful, lying bullies that have a consistent pattern of directing anger towards victims.

Occasionally a bully appears in our midst. Sometimes they thrive for a while. Eventually they go to far and we start to see clearly what they are and sideline them. Not so with Tea Baggers, Conservatives, Republicans, and Libertarians, when a bully on their side starts to show what they are, the bully becomes sacred entertainment and truth. They will forgive their outrage as humor and take their every word as sacred truth. Even when shown over and over that that their truths are lies, Tea Baggers, Conservatives, Republicans, and Libertarians will continue to love the bullies even as their favorite bullies circle the drain.

My whole life I have heard of conservative values. Name one. Ask them to name one. It won't change their their perspective but it will give you a chance to laugh in their face when they say family values or Christianity, or financial whatever. The values they think they own are much better represented by our side of the line. Our atheists are better Christians than their Christian leaders are. Compare the prosperity gospel to secular humanism. One of them is tenuously based on religion. The other fits pretty well with what Jesus taught. Go figure.
