General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWill you vote in November if you have to go to the polls?
I will. If I have to walk barefoot over a bed of nails and broken glass and through a thick cloud of coronavirus-infested droplets, I will do it. That's how bad I want to vote that crooked arrogant con man out of office. I hope I'll be able to vote by mail, but if I have to go to the polling place, I will do it.

(5,815 posts)In my county in Florida, I have had a standing order for an absentee ballot since 2004 and have not failed to get mine (and my husbands) in the mail usually weeks ahead of Election Day. Every so often, they contact me by email to inquire if I would like to continue receiving my ballot this way. I say yes. The ballots keep coming. Easy peasy. We sit at the kitchen table and fill out our ballots. No lines. No waiting. Drive to post office, drop them in the ballot box - er mail box. I can even check online in a few days to see if they got them. Great system!

(4,483 posts)If that shouldn't come through (say due to overload of requests) you bet I'll go to the polls, decked out in mask, gloves, overalls. I'm not willing to die for the sake of the economy, but I'm willing to risk it to vote against Trump. Because I love my country.

(34,117 posts)as an observer on behalf of the Democratic Party, I'll have to vote by absentee ballot ahead of time. (Last two presidentail elections I've been either in the County BOE (communicating field concerns to the BOE), or in the war room (fielding calls from each precinct, trouble shooting, or calling the Dem observer in the county BOE.)

I always vote absentee, and I don't think that will change, but if I have to put on my mask and gloves and go to a polling station, I will.

(13,059 posts)I have underlying conditions and if I get covid-19 it could be very grim. As much as I enjoy going to the polls, my life is more valuable to me than any election. However, I will cast an absentee ballot if I can be sure that the envelope that the ballot comes in does not have the virus on it and if making a trip to my mailbox to mail it will be safe.

The Virginia legislation has not given us early voting (yet). We had that when we lived in Florida, and we took advantage of it every time.

I'm 68 and my husband i s67 and we both are asthmatic. Not all the time, but it's there in the back. Luckily at our polling place there are usually more workers than voters. We still haven't voted by mail. I guess I trust being there in person more. We are both retired so we can go whenever we want. Definitely there and voting for Biden.
