...has me rethinking the VP choice. Not that it's up to me, yet. I'm expecting a call from Joe any day now asking for my advice.
Because of the unique situation that he'll be in, do you think it would be more or less important to consider a VP choice with a specific background? Financial, health, legal, etc? I know any choice will be a shock to the collective psyche of the US after enduring that ventriloquist's dummy that's been sitting on Trump's lap. I'm trying to put aside my own personal choice and consider the importance of the actual qualifications. I started thinking it might be better to have someone with a certain type of experience/knowledge, but I couldn't figure out who or what that might be.
NOTE: Anyone commenting on my choice to refer to our nominee as "President" as 'counting the chickens' can keep it to themselves. I'm sick and tired of negativity. I'm going to live in my own dreamworld where we're already picking out the drapes. Don't harsh my buzz.

(442 posts)But, I'm not sure Biden/Warren would be a good combination. They seem a little like oil and water. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. A VP that can hold their own is what we do need, but we'll be entering a long-term time of healing, so unity is what we'll need most. So I say so it must be true.

I'm liking Kamala Harris for Attorney General.

(3,429 posts)Gov. Charlie Baker will fill her vacancy with a Republican. Even a moderate could keep Mitch McConnell in charge, and block any Biden-appointed judges until a special election. Massachusetts voters repplaced Ted Kennedy with Scott Brown....severly crippling the scope of the ACA. No guarantee that they would replace Warren with a Dem.

(131,370 posts)whom he knows he gets along with, and a background he thinks is important.
He'll likely honor his earlier statement, it will be a woman, and he may decide to honor Rep. Clyburn's 'request' for an African American.
I miss the days of a Pres/VP that liked and respected one another. LC mentioned Warren up above. I think she would offer the experience that we might need, but I'm not sure she'd be an effective VP. I'm not confident the two would make a good pair, either.
My personal choice is Harris, but I admit that I'm not familiar enough with some of the other choices. I do know that I won't be disappointed in any of them. Joe has an amazing bunch of people to chose from.

(41,832 posts)A 71 year old white person from the same area as Biden and they have not agreed on many issues.
If you want someone young and a superb background in the financial area it would be Katie Porter.
I'm partial to Kamala myself, but I know Biden will pick someone good.
He has some good advisers who have smart political instincts. I think in this election a hard-nosed political choice is the way to go.

(15,805 posts)neither can the VP. With having so much damage to undo, maybe they should appoint something like dozens of czars to handle every area that Trump screwed up. It's going to be along time before the US is back to normal.
