I saw this op ed and it made my jaw drop. I guess she expects us to have all forgotten the comments about "working to make Obama a one term president" and the debt ceiling impasse. And the record number of fillibusters (virtual or not). And the record number of blocked appointments. All from a group with a minority in the Senate.
Anyway, if you want your daily dose of unreality, check it out:

Obama's 2012 slogan: 'Can't work with others'

President Obama is running for re-election with an unusual pitch: He can't work with others.
He only gets along with yes-men. "I refuse to take no for an answer," Obama said Wednesday of his decision to make a "recess" appointment that placed Richard Cordray as head of a new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The Constitution, of course, gives the president the power to make appointments during Senate recesses. Technically, however, the Senate was in session. The imperial president bypassed Senate rules and years of precedent, because he wouldn't or couldn't cut a deal.
Later Wednesday, the White House announced three more recess appointments for vacant seats on the National Labor Relations Board. Obama explained: "When Congress refuses to act, and as a result, hurts our economy and puts our people at risk, then I have an obligation as president to do what I can without them."

(3,795 posts)... give them everything they want.
Of course, they don't have to give an inch because they have principles, and standing strong in belief of those principles is a virtue. Unless you're a liberal because liberal values are evil and compromising on liberal values is ALSO a virtue.
You can not compromise with them because they will not compromise with us. When they have power they ram through their agenda. When we have power we compromise so much with them that our agenda never truly gets pushed forward so we continue our right ward march on economic policy. There is no possible way that things get better for the 99% under this strategy. The elite will continue to consolidate income and wealth under this paradigm.

(47,953 posts)At least in total dollars saved. Even more than they wanted in deficit reduction. Except that the Repubs then asked for even more crap, most of which had nothing to do with deficit reduction. All of their "negotiations" go the same way- Ask for a ridiculous thing, then when offered it, ask for even more.

(29,381 posts)...how the GOP uses the same insane tactics that the Nazis did. Then we can have a real conversation on whether these fuckers are sociopaths and psychopaths, because they sure as hell act like it.
