(all of this is worth reading - I can only put 4 paragraphs, below - read it all at the link above)
Donald Trumps response to the coronavirus pandemic, which he once dismissed as a hoax, has been fiercely criticised at home as woefully inadequate to the point of irresponsibility.
Yet also thanks largely to Trump, a parallel disaster is unfolding across the world: the ruination of Americas reputation as a safe, trustworthy, competent international leader and partner.

Trumps surreal televised Covid-19 briefings are further undermining respect for US leadership. Trump regularly propagates false or misleading information, bets on hunches, argues with reporters and contradicts scientific and medical experts.

Do Americans realise how far their countrys moral as well as financial stock has fallen? Perhaps at this time of extreme stress, it seems not to matter. But it will matter later on for them and for the future international balance of power.

(my thoughts - of course we realize it! Democrats do, anyway)

(6,928 posts)If they had voted for First Lady Clinton in three states instead of (whatever irresponsible "protest" attitudes), the orangevirus would not have fired the Obama/Biden pandemic response team, and all the other destruction of their good works).
Thousands of lives would have been saved from a horrible death.

He is not bungling from incompetence, although it is true that he is not competent to deal with the situation. He is deliberately not only allowing people to die through inaction, but pushing the idea that it's ok to do that. Deliberate mass murder, not incompetence.
Lock 'em up and then string 'em up.

(6,234 posts)Equating the U.S. with this piece of amoeba excrement occupying the Oval Office is bullshit. The American people and the American government are still worthy of their long-standing reputation. The ones who have gone lower than rock bottom are the amoeba excrement and the fucking pricks in the Senate who have enabled him.
So yeah, talk about the Senate pricks all you want, but don't throw the American people and government in with them.

(53,410 posts)The real effect will be what every country does AFTER the pandemic.
For us it looks like were electing someone who will actually help this country recover as well as possible. Other countries will do the same. Lets see how the world comes out on the other side of the pandemic.
Perhaps we will emerge and not be a superpower. Who says thats a bad thing? Only Jingoistic warmongers will cry over this. The rest of us have roots in every other country on the planet.

(53,410 posts)This pandemic and its aftermath are far from over. Thinking that Putin and Xi are suddenly telling the truth is exactly what they want us to think and its a mistake. Its part and parcel of their 20th Century propaganda.

Crap, and when I remember the knock-down drag-out fights I had with "progressives" over the Trans-Pacific Partnership, who they despised Obama for and used as one more reason to vote against Hillary. Right up to the last week before the election I met people IRL who simply could not see it was about reining in China.
