Suddenly, it has become politically feasible for Republicans to dump Trump?

Yesterday, it was reported in a tweet that Mitch McConnell had said that Trump was "nuts". Also, that he did not really care for the guy.

Whether that is true or not, it does seem like an appropriate time for Republicans to seriously consider someone else at the top of their ticket. Mr Trump does not have the glow he had just 3 or 4 months ago.

We can see their rationale. No doubt, they are taking inventory for November's election. It does not look good for their Leader or their Party at the present time.

They see huge debt and deficits for as far as the eye can see. They see double-digit unemployment. They see an unstable stock market. They see an unstable president. They are not holding a very good hand.

The opportunity is there for McConnell and the Repubs, if they choose to take advantage? We should not be surprised if that is something they are thinking about.

Trump can't touch McConnell directly, i.e., "You're fired!"

Trump CAN fire Elaine Chao, McConnell's wife, from his Cabinet (Dept. of Transportation).

The Republicans may not win with Trump, but they will definitely lose without him.

Of course, there's always that "for the good of the country" argument.

IMO they it won't bother them too much if a democrat gets elected because the country is in such a mess. Seems like when a republican president gets us in a mess a democrat has to come in to straighten it out.

Trump has "won" all the Republican Primaries held. The only way to replace him is to get him to withdraw, and I don't see a way to compel him to.

But the repukes will never, EVER, under any circumstances, dump Trump. They just won't do it. I think they're long past the point when they could have even thought about it with any degree of importance and seriousness.

Supporting someone else for the GOP nomination would be an admission that they were wrong. And again, they will never ever do that.

It doesn't really matter if McConnell doesn't like Trump. No one likes Trump. Anyone who still supports him does so either out of affinity for his squalid, racist, misogynist, misanthropic world-view, or because he is a convenient idiot doing the bidding of the wealthy and unscrupulous.

There's is not a chance in Hell that they will replace him on the GOP ticket. Not a chance.
