donnie announces he will crow to make the sun rise

that's all this noise about "reopening the country" is.

obviously the country is going to gradually get back to work. as a practical (and legal) matter, it will happen state-by-state and city-by-city as local conditions permit.

doesn't matter.

donnie is simply trying to make a lot of noise on the topic so that he gets credit for whatever reopens wherever and whenever.

he called for it to happen, so he'll say any state or business that reopens is just following his lead.


and thus the rooster takes credit for the rising sun....

I had a youthful interest in Saxon England, but have forgotten almost all of it. I couldn't now even name the seven kingdoms without looking them up.

He wasn't a Saxon at all, but Danish. He was initially the ruler of the Danelaw before the Danes conquered other areas in England before the Norman Conquest. The pre-1066 history of England is quite fascinating.
