Republicans in red states will follow Trump's lead and open early. And Trump's Base will happily thumb their nose at social distancing. Trump can restart his campaign in Alabama, Arkansas,Mississippi and other friendly states. Then lrts see what happens.

Democrats will listen to the Doctors and science. The Base will follow Trump's folly.

safe in a little nest outside of a tiny town and so far our county has only had one known case. So, so far we're lucky. But like that preacher in VA who said God was stronger than a virus, forgot that God is the virus. We have a bunch of those kinds around too. Mostly those people are not in the NW corner of the state.

Mostly everyone wears a mask, some wear gloves and most of the stores have you come to a window and they hand you out your order. Not just the restaurants. That way, they stay sort of open and we all stay safer.

future economic growth. Tend to vote Republican, except for the urban areas.

In my small town, I've been wearing a mask for a couple of weeks when doing my weekly shopping trip. Saw a lot more masks this trip. I suspect that most are reading non-Fox/non-Trump sources of pandemic reporting. A lot of folks my age seem oblivious to the CV-19 transmission potential....many with heart/weight/general low health factors doing nothing to protect themselves. Very strange, maybe it's a political thing - you believe the science or you believe the Jim Bakers of this world.

everyone who doesn't wear their jersey. If all conservatives were suicidal idiots, how come they aren't dying on highways by the tens of thousands each day, instead of adjusting their speeds and trajectories as needed to stay alive?

FEMA and the CDC are currently headed by corrupt, incompetent Trump employees. There's nothing to say honorable, competent governors will follow this plan.

This is all a grand social experiment, though. While the media were covering beach parties and so on, most retirees here in FL had started self-isolating or at least strongly limiting their excursions because they could some time in early to mid February LONG before the state orders enabled others to.

Stay-at-home orders allowed people who were in statistically lesser but very real danger and wanted to isolate, but couldn't, to finally go home and not have their children go to school and bring death home with them.

I think it was Paul Krugman who wrote an article on this. There is a whole section of the US where death rates are higher - from preventable lifestyle diseases, from drug addiction, from firearms and from auto accidents.

need of many to salvage their jobs and incomes, I'd expect a lot more resistance than acceding to putting the lives on the line of people from their 30s on up.

Being a 50-year-old grocery clerk right now takes a grim courage. No one's even coming to their safe windows to cheer them as they get off shift.

His plan B is to blame the inevitable disaster on the individual states and governors.
