(115,869 posts)that he was discovered throwing rocks at a neighbor's baby in a playpen, and was so unmanageable that he was sent away to military school at about age 13. I think he was just a bad seed.
believe he was born that way.

(46,202 posts)His father alternately ignored him and bullied him. His mother ignored him and let the maids handle him.
Around Kindergarten, he and his younger brother Robert were playing with blocks. Trump liked what he was building and asked Robert for more and more of his blocks. Trump liked his building so much that he got some glue and made it permanent, this denying his brother any blocks for the foreseeable future.
When he was under 8, he admitted that he punched his teacher in the abdomen simply b/c Trump didn't think he knew anything about music.
He was in competition with his older brother, Fred Sr., and desired to be the one who took over the business empire.
When he was 14, he rode subways and buses to Times Square, where he bought jackknives. He had such a collection in his proverbial underwear drawer, that when his father discovered them, he shipped Trump to the NY Military Academy.
While at the Military Academy, Trump learned the Art of Hazing and Persecution.

(61,698 posts)No trips to see the Grand Canyon or Great Smoky Mountains, etc. I bet trump has never been to a state or national park unless he was performing official duties. And I hope he stays away. I don't want him trying to figure out how to build a trump monstrosity next to the Grand Canyon, which he probably thinks of as a large ditch.

(11,045 posts)One gene in particular is linked with an increased risk of violent or aggressive behaviour, studies have found. Known as MAOA (monoamine oxidase A), this warrior gene controls the production of a protein that breaks down brain-signalling chemicals like dopamine, noradrenalin, and serotonin, which all influence mood.
But the idea of a psychopath gene remains controversial. A gene for psychopathy?
People with a variant of the gene, called MAOA-L, produce less of the protein that breaks down these signalling chemicals, which in turn causes them to build up. An excess of these chemicals, scientists believe, leads to impulsive behaviour (such as as hypersexuality), sleep disorders, mood swings, and violent tendencies.
James Fallon, a neuroscientist at the UC Irvine School of Medicine, was studying the brains of murderers and other violent criminals who are thought to be psychopaths, when he accidentally found out he might be one.
Not only did his brain scans look suspiciously like those of the murderers, he later found out that he also possesses the MAOA-L gene thats been linked to aggression and antisocial behaviour.

A complete lack of empathy does not determine a malicious, sadistic, or criminal personality. Psychopaths still have a choice. Choosing to (mainly) abide by social norms is by and large a less complicated path to success.

(11,498 posts)His next brother was born and mom had to give all her attention to him because he was sickly and she pushed him away no love then sent him to military school young.
I personally think being raised with zero love is what created this selfish self absorbed monster.

(11,949 posts)As in some magic good vs evil thing. Everything can be explained with science even if we dont presently understand much, all things considered.
But most people are not born good or bad. The environment dictates that. But there is no doubt some people are born with a genetic quirk that makes them prone to psychotic behavior. Most never go all the way there and Im sure we have all known some. But a person born that way put into a toxic childhood can develop into a monster. Most dont inherit 500 million so just go to prison for run of the mill psychotic shit. Like killing pets or girlfriends.

(32,727 posts)A little of both can lead to the perfect storm.
I went to a military school in 60s and recall cadets that remind me of him. Well to do parents that abandon the kid and they can turn into monsters.

(12,480 posts)Is different than psychotic.
Psychosis is detachment from reality. I have been psychotic and it's like your brain betrayed you and reality becomes distorted and scary.
Being without empathy is narcissistic or psychopathic.
I hate when people lump people who have mental illness and trauma with psychopathy and narcissism.
Schizophrenia, manic depressive, and anxiety and trauma and disorders like that are totally different they not remove empathy.

(12,480 posts)As a kid, I never lost my empathy I am not narcissitic.
I think pigs like trump are born without souls like the rest of the monsters in human suits the dark triad personalities.
Saying and abused child becomes an abuser is something referred to as the vampire myth.
If abuse caused abusers the country would be over run with dark triad wastes of skin.
I have no empathy left for narcissists sociopaths and authoritarians.
I prefer to reserve my empathy to those who are not dark triad monsters.

(53,410 posts)I can clearly remember when I was eight years old I made a conscious decision NEVER to be like my parents. I swore I would never do or say things that would destroy people the way my parents did. Many decades later I realized I was one of those people who stop the cycle of destructive abuse that runs in families.
I think people can choose consciously to not be monsters. And they can choose to be kind.
Evil people choose to be evil. It isnt even a natural way to be. It takes forethought and practice and a will to follow that path. And I think people like Trump and McConnell choose it because they feel inadequate in some way and they prefer to get even with the world. They actually seek power so they can indulge their anger and resentment and feelings of inadequacy. Its all done very consciously.

(8,774 posts)A good book is The Psychopath Next Door by Martha Stout. Yrs ago I worked in a childrens hospital and a little 4 yr old boy patient went into a severely handicapped little girl s hospital room and beat her up. We called in a psychologist to deal with the boy and the kid charmed the psychologist. It was so creepy.
