That's really the way that Republicans see us. As for the rabid beast in the White House, he sees nothing but himself in the mirror.
But, really. The only answer we have to today's reality is, "vote!" Is that really enough? Republicans are doing everything possible to make sure we can't vote, or that our votes don't count. We take them to court on that, but it seems that those courts have been packed by the GOP. (Especially the five pricks on the SCOTUS.) And the bottom line here is that this year's election can be stolen at the presidential and senate levels.
We must understand that this is similar to the way that much of Europe fell into fascism in the 1930s. History doesn't repeat itself exactly, but the echos of the horror of that time are with us right now. All we have to do is watch and listen. And we must then act to prevent it from happening again.
That last paragraph seems to be a call to some form of revolt. But it's merely a warning as to the reality that is right in front of our faces. It's a warning about the survival of democracy.
There are tens of thousands of activists, lawyers, etc. out there fighting this outrage every day. They are winning a few and losing most of the big ones. But they're up against a stacked deck.
Let me get to the bottom line here. When those who "rule" us are fucking us, there comes a point at which "playing by the rules" is meaningless. It seems to me that we, the majority, have to demonstrate that Republicans and their beloved leader has misjudged us. It's way, way past time to show those (who don't give a shit if we live or die) that we are not the sheep they think we are. At one time, Germany and Japan made that mistake. It's our turn to prove that the GOP has made exactly the same mistake.

(22,166 posts)the CV) revealed its true feelings about its voters in WI. Party over lives, party over rational thought, party over all.
This still despite very reasonable proposals to protect ALL voters by moving the election to a different date (a very reasonable option) but NO, they insisted that the voting still go on that day.
If I lived in Wisconsin, I'd be livid. I'd be very upset. This is what some of your neighbors in WI feel about the value of your lives, democratic and / or independent WI voters. A disgusting and pathetic (and as it turned out, fruitless) attempt to throw the election, regardless of consequences to people's health.
We are not sheep. The differences in voting in WI was striking. Over 160,000+ more votes for the democratic side (compared to 2016), wiping out the republican challenger handily, and one especially fine note to recall, their efforts to keep voters at home worked far more effectively in keeping republican voters at home.
And another reason to celebrate this win? Republican efforts to throw a monkey wrench into voting by mail (must have a photo ID returned along w/ the mail in ballot, and witnessed too, the ballot), in that it hampered older republican voters far more than it did democratic voters.
Maybe democratic leaders might want to continue to encourage voting during perilous times? We'll win every time! Of course I'm joking. No life is worth this risk, especially when there can be many other options available to all to safely vote.
And now, based upon the very positive results after I've read several articles out of WI, in particular the mail in ballots requiring a photo ID and witness signature, stopped far more republican voters than it did democratic voters. Thus, if we go across the country and deal w/ similar issues, go ahead and let the republicans do these voter suppression techniques. It's going to hurt them far more than democratic voters. Obviously these idiots didn't think their proposals through very carefully. Idiots. I guess they are copying rump in how dumb can one get? Right now, it's a tie to me.

Personally I think "sheep" is much more applicable to the behavior we see from magats who blindly follow their leader down whatever rathole he leads them in. Democrats, on the other hand, are way too diverse to be called sheep.

Nobody who's as angry and determined and smart as most Democrats I know could ever be accurately called that.
That said, I run into more than a few Democrats who think they still have to be nice to Trumpie friends and family when they spout shit.
I disagree.
There's no discussion to be had about whether he's right about something or wrong. There's no agree to disagree. They're supporting a guy who through his negligence and lies has caused thousands of needless deaths, more by the day.
The best they can hope for is that I'll calmly end the conversation.

(26,630 posts)to make sure everyone can vote and have their vote count. They need to lead on this. No focusing on what they "can't" do, but on whatever they can. Maybe that means a massive media campaign, or plastering swing states with billboards, and massive, high profile, lawsuits. But they need to do whatever they can.
