Starting Wednesday, the IRS has an online portal that lets you track the status of your stimulus payment. Here are the details.
The federal government is now in the process of depositing the first economic stimulus checks of up to $1,200 in the bank accounts of eligible taxpayers, beginning with people who have direct deposit set up with the IRS. If you qualify for the payment, you can also track the status of your check today, through a tool called Get My Payment. Read on for step-by-step instructions on how to use the online tracking tool.
The 80 million Americans who have set up direct deposit with the IRS are expected to receive their 2020 coronavirus stimulus payments by today, April 15. But just because the checks begin to arrive this week doesn't mean that everyone will get their stimulus money on the first day. Those who've set up direct deposit with the IRS can expect to get their stimulus payment faster.

I filed but I paid nothing nor received a refund.
It won't tell you your status if this is your case.
Upon researching this further, I found it to state that if you filed in 2018 or 2019, you don't need to do anything and the stimulus check will be deposited into your bank acct. that Social Security uses to send your check to if you are on SSA or SSDI.
I hope this helps.

(42,303 posts)And the site says it can't determine what we need to do (my guess is that we'll get the check, but they haven't set up that part of the site properly yet)
Frankly, I want to set up direct deposit--I don't want the MangoMenace's name on a check I have to cash!

(2,396 posts)I told him just write f- you over it if it means that much to him. Wonder if the bank will cash it with the full obscenity written out?
Anyway, we're married filing jointly but always owe at the end so they don't have any direct deposit information, except for my Social Security check. That bank account is in my name only and we don't share the same surname.
Wonder how that's gonna work.

(1,760 posts)I owed a small amount which the IRS withdrew from my checking account.
When I checked the status of my payment, I was informed that the IRS didnt have my financial institutions information and I wouldnt receive the payment via direct deposit.
The site prompted me to provide that information, which I did.
Just an FYI.

(20,878 posts)It seems like they are making this as difficult as possible!
Why can they manage to send $8K to Canadians and a paltry $1200 to ONE of us?
REASON: This is how sh*thole countries work. They never keep their promises!
