(4,395 posts)They didn't have my direct deposit info previously because I've never owed or gotten anything back before. I added it to my 2019 return and sent it in a few weeks ago but I'm assuming they are still processing it.
Would be a lot simpler if they just had a web portal where you could verify your identity and just enter it yourself. They have something like that for people that never file but I don't want to use it in case it screw up whoever is trying to enter the info off my tax return. I've heard it can take up to a month for them to process them.
What a mess. The "Check status of my payment" website should have been up weeks ago with the option to verify how you want to receive the payment, which address to use or which bank account to send it to.
Instead we get "don't call us, we're sorting it" for a month and then "we've already sent a bunch, still don't call us. Trust us, you're fine."
What about all the people that moved house since filing their 2018 return who are going to get checks going to the wrong address?

(54,770 posts)you got a refund in recent years so that they have your bank account info. As I understand it, there is a place ion IRS website to provide bank account info. Good luck.

(10,021 posts)I checked twitter just for fun. We are not the only ones getting the "status cannot be determined" message. We have conventional jobs and owe every year because of investments. We will get something eventually, and so will you.

(4,533 posts)That message was the default when the site was overloaded. I think they have now replaced it with too busy, try later. But you should try later, maybe at 2 am, maybe tomorrow.
Many many people got your message.
