1) receives Social Security by direct deposit
2) filed tax return(s) for tax years 2018, 2019, or both because required to
3) did not get a tax refund by direct deposit
4) did NOT provide direct deposit info to the IRS
I have never seen a clear answer regarding how will this work. I suspect people in this situation will get a check in the mail with Orange Julius Caesar's name on it later in the year because getting direct deposit info from Social Security would make sense and be current.

(5,182 posts)Somebody has my direct deposit info. I owed money for 2018 and 2019, so no IRS direct deposit info on file, but they could cross reference my state unemployment info, with little risk to me.

(17,482 posts)Haven't filed 2019, but everything else matches.
The IRS site cryptically tells me:
According to information that we have on file, we cannot determine your eligibility for a payment at this time.
I know I'm eligible. So

(29,568 posts)So glad I sprang for a heat pump. Huge difference in winter bills. About $50-75 less a month in the summer.

(25,895 posts)I file tax returns every year. If a refund, it's by direct deposit.
I believe the deposits are being sent out to the lowest earners first.
I got mine yesterday.

(29,568 posts)Starting with $10K or less after Drumpf's name gets on the damn checks. Direct deposit doesn't work that way AFAK. Did you get your Social Security check yesterday as well?

(25,895 posts)My taxable income is pretty low. Not much above $10K Nice thing about direct deposit is that the money arrives painlessly and without any need to get to a bank or check-cashing place.

(25,895 posts)pretty much every day. I want to keep on eye on it, make sure that the balance doesn't get too low while I have something out there that is going to hit and perhaps cause an overdraft. I last had an overdraft decades ago, and will never let it happen again.
I also have my income arriving four different times, spread out somewhat evenly throughout the month. I have a handful of bills that are directly taken out of my checking account. So I want to keep a close eye on it.

(17,321 posts)I just checked IRS.gov and his status shows his payment will be made direct deposit to a different account than his SS. It is going to go to my primary account (of which he is on, but not his primary account). I was also able to provide my account info instead of getting a mailed check. I had to enter my name, address, gross taxable income and refund / payment amount from my last tax submission and routing number + account number I wanted the deposit to go to.
Im glad it was so easy to add my banking info as I couldnt bear to see impotus ridiculous, grandiose signature enter my house.

2) Filed 2018 and 2019 tax return. Paid income taxes by personal check
3) Do not get a tax refund via any method.
4) IRS does not have my deposit account but SS does.
Tried to check today could not get any info. So, have no clue what is going on.
