While leaders may deservedly be beaten over the head with past statements, we appreciate when said leaders take responsible ownership of those statements and admit that their viewpoints have changed in light of new information.

This is not a conservative value. They like to call it "flip-flopping". Actual flip-flopping would be changing views based on the audience - essentially telling them what they want to hear at the present moment despite actual personally held beliefs.

“Joe Biden has been a senator since 1973 from a state which, at that time and beyond, was primarily an organ of E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co., and more lately has been dominated by credit card banking, which Delaware encouraged as the chemical industry faded. In order to obtain and maintain his office as representative of the relatively conservative voting population of Delaware, it is a certainty that in all of those years he has taken any number of positions on any number of issues at a given time which you, I, and anyone else would find repugnant now, and a few which were repugnant at the time.”

Thank you for sharing this with me. I want to be able, with certainty and knowledge, to talk with my friends about this matter. Just as you are angry with me, telling me to get the f... out of this site, I am even more angry at the Trump Administration and would love to shove them the f... out of the White House comes November. I was able to persuade my father-in-law to vote for Hilary in 2016. This time around, I was able to talk to my Republican older brother living in Calabasas, CA, to switch to the Democrat. He and his wife will now vote for Biden in November.

I don’t like using condescending language to others. But anyway, thank you for sharing with me Biden’s short political history. I now know how to response when that story arises.

I am not saying that because I want to make up, but because Trump is a very shrewd con-person who will do anything in his power to win his re-election. In order to defeat Trump, we need to have jberryhill’s fiery and the deep-rooted hatred toward Trump in every Democrat, Independent, Never-Trumper, Republican, heck, anyone!

How I wish my early Christmas gift to be the Election of Joe Biden as President of the USA in November!

This *incident* recently brought up by this Tara Reid person doesn't pass my smell test. This supposedly happened in 1992. Why has no one heard anything about this in nearly 30 years? And only is brought out into the public recently? From accounts I've been hearing on the news, etc., no one with any power to do anything to advance whatever cause it is this person has, has had no interest in doing anything on her behalf. Lawyers have decided not to advance anything on her behalf. Here we are on the eve of the 2020 General Election and she pops up again. This has shades of Al Franken written all over it in my opinion. Ginned up so-called *allegations* from people who all of a sudden have started crawling out of the woodwork and accusing inconvenient legislators and candidates who have seemingly just been biding their time throughout months and years - and in Reid's case nearly two decades - who never uttered a word at any point previously. Where was this Tara Reid in 2008 and 2012? Why did she say nothing then? Why now? And is she working on behalf of herself or some other person or organization?

Frankly, I think she's actually someone who has been recruited by tRump or certainly on his behalf who has justified it because reasons. Revenge about the women opened their collective mouths about his sexual assaults during the 2016 campaign and since, and his fear of Biden and his fury about his Impeachment.

Put anybody in government for 40+ years and you are going to find some decisions that aren't popular, either when they were made or with the benefit of hindsight. By all accounts, though, Joe Biden is a good man and his work has been better than most in Congress. Sniping at Biden over old votes is just plain self-destructive, and only helps Trump.

We will never find "the perfect candidate." One that's never done anything remotely wrong in our eyes. Every candidate is as imperfect as we are. We will never agree with every single position one has had or has. In my mind, what matters is where their heart is. It's the sum total of what they believe in that's important. Not a few picky things here and there. Joe Biden's heart is in the right place and he has my complete support. Not because he's perfect. But because, despite any failings he may have, he'll make a fantastic president.

It was back in the early days of Michael Avenetti, back when Lawrence O'Donnell had him on his show almost every night, and I was a big fan of his anti-Trump, good-guy bravado. You basically wrote that the guy was an intense fraud, on and on and on, quite eloquent, but it made my blood boil. I did what I often do, which is type a response replete with expletives and takedowns, but never hit "post". So glad I didn't. You were spot-on then and I've since enjoyed your perspective, your authority, and your sense of humor. I love this piece. It's a rant that I've harbored in my mind but you gave it color and power.

Take a bow, jberryhill

And thanks for coining "so fucking what" as the 2020 catchphrase for any Joe Biden swiftboating inevitably coming his way. It's coarse and that's what these psychophant deplorables need to have shoved into their little piggie faces.
