I think someone needs to post one -- even with the faces masked out. It would do a lot of good. Wake some folks up.

(3,543 posts)If they want to die that way who are we to stop them. When it come to stupidity like that I'm starting to get a callous heart for magas.

(4,572 posts)I've read enough accounts to not want to read any more. In many cases, it is horror film type stuff.

(17,537 posts)Is that the person's death would be mocked, morphed, edited and subtitled within hours of posting. It would end up being a big joke.

(24,396 posts)as they die. Most of the suffering is happening internally, and a video cant show that.

The alveolar walls in a healthy lung are, obviously paper thin. So that slide showed basically thin little tendrils of tissue around open alveoli.
The slide of the COVID lung biopsy was almost completely pink--hardly any space for air sacs, and the walls were so thick and lined with cellular debris that there was no way that oxygen could diffuse across.
Even those pathology slides were enough to make a huge impact on me. It made me imagine trying to inhale with a slice of bologna or something totally covering my mouth... I mean, obviously the scale and the mechanism are totally different, but the idea of gasping for breath, with oxygen just on the other side of that thick slab of tissue, is kind of similar.

(1,185 posts)Had a bad reaction to a chemo drug a few years ago. It made me blow up like a balloon with excess fluid and collapsed both lungs by 3/4 or more. I thought the coughing fits from that were awful, but things were about to get a lot worse. After repeated attempts to keep the fluid away failed, they tried a thoracentesis, which is when they manually pull the fluid out via a tap in your back.
Holy mother of god, when your lungs rapidly reinflate like that, you cough and involuntarily scream so violently you'll think you're dying. Noises came out of me I'd never heard in my life. When even the thoracentesis was unsuccessful in keeping the fluid away and my lungs inflated, we went with a pleurectomy to fix things permanently. Immediately post-op while coming out from anesthesia, I had another coughing-and-involuntary-screaming jag.
I spent months of my life afterward with daily violent coughing fits, to the point that I felt like I was gonna cough myself into an aneurysm. I often threw up from it. The one thought in your head is how or if you're going to get any air.
What people go through with Covid is WORSE. And it goes on for days and days.
I can imagine a lot of bad things, but trying to picture what they go through breaks my brain.
