I think he meant the deaths of 2-3% of the entire population would be acceptable to him, with the school children being vectors to infect everyone else.

That is a completely obscene idea. Whether or not they are children, they are still PEOPLE.. human beings with lives and souls and loved ones, and dreams and goals .. We cannot, absolutely must not normalize any part of the cold & heartless willingness of the #trumpCult to allow a few hundred thousand deaths to make the economy strong again.

How callous and mean spirited of "Dr" Oz.. 0% is the only acceptable percentage of deaths from this debacle.

It sure sounded to me like he meant it's just dandy if 2-3% of Americans die. Other people think he meant 2-3% of school children dying is acceptable to him. He says he meant neither. But if he's so pathetically bad at expressing himself, such that almost everyone "misunderstood" him, then he shouldn't be running his gob in front of a TV camera, about anything, ever.

It wasn't what he said that caused the problem - per his recent comment - it's that you were confused by what he said. It was that confusion that caused you to be upset. Not him.

Shitheels always claim they misspoke when they say something contemptible and get called on it.

I am of the ilk that did not take Oz's statement to mean that he was okay with 2%-3% of children dying. It was clear that he was saying that according to whatever stats he was looking at, opening the schools would add 2%-3% to the total death rate, so a death rate of 100,000 people would be augmented to 2,000 to 3,000 more. THAT is HORRIFIC enough for me, plus, that is probably a bullshit projection. The infection rate is not 1:1, if kids are allowed to go to school before we have massive testing, tracing, and isolation, then we would be looking at our kids potentially going out, picking up the virus, and spreading it back at home. The infection rate would not remain low.

Whatever Oz is today, at one point he was a medical doctor. He took an oath to "do no harm". He obviously abandoned that oath some time ago when he began pushing stupid remedies on his show and sold his authority for profit. This statement was callous and just wrong, and he did it either for ideology, for profit, or for notoriety. It is disgusting and there should be a heavy price to pay.
