A name that could hopefully change the U.S.A. Steve Bullock-current governor of Montana.- Democrat

Last edited Fri Apr 17, 2020, 12:11 PM - Edit history (1)

..He is running for the U.S. Senate. He outraised his republican opponent 2 to 1. Steve is limited and cannot run again as governor because of "..term limitations.."

..If Steve wins the Montana seat, then we need only a couple more to have a Senate majority..If we win with Bullock, then we need to win 3 more and keep our current senate members too..

Current Senate ---Republicans..53
......................---Democrats ...45
......................Independents ... 2

.....................................total 100

If we win Maine, Montana, Iowa, and just one more..we will have a majority. The senate will change hands and become a Democratic stronghold...Perhaps Colorado? Arizona?

septuagenarians (or worse still, octogenarians, which Biden would be for three quarters of his 2 terms) as a de facto standard practice is not a good trend, at all, IMHO.

To put this into perspective, if Kamala Harris (whom I have seen described at times as a very young fresh new face) had won this year, then in the almost 200 year history of the Democratic Party, only THREE POTUS's would have been OLDER than Harris when they were first elected president or first sworn in.

Harry Truman

James Buchanan

Andrew Jackson

If Biden serves 2 terms, Warren then serves 2, and then Harris 2 (granted almost impossible for 24 straight years of Dems but it is likely a Rethug of similar age slips in), then the Boomers (plus the even older Biden) would have held POTUS for FIFTY-TWO straight years. Hell, if Harris or some boomer very close in age ran and won in 2044 (she would only be 2 years older than Biden will be if he wins), it could be SIXTY straight years. Enough is enough.

I will miss him as our governor in Montana. He’s been pretty darned good for all of us. Our covid19 numbers are pretty low which I credit him for as he shut the state down early. He’s a good person. He’s honest. He is measured and thoughtful.

I agree with you, we are close - very close - to a realistic (even if slim) DEM lead in US Senate.

Despite what national polls say, Senator Doug Jones is doing the work for everyone in Alabama, even conservatives. He is superior to either of the right wingers, while not Roy Moore level bad, aren't as far away from him as described in national media. #justsayin
