Those same assholes are the first to line up at the trough for govt money, and then worried about the stimulus checks, extending unemployment benefits, and very soon theyll start complaining about entitlements. The ignorant trumphumpers will buy the same shit the rethugs have been peddling since Ronnie. For one thing its obvious they dont know any math. Lets just say only half of this first round of stimulus goes to corporate welfare. A trillion; 1,000, 000, 000,000. The average person gets about 1,000. They could be giving every american 300,000 or so.
I was disappointed when Obama didnt go after Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld but I think he handled things the best he could. Im hoping for a widespread blue wave in November where we get control of at least the two branches of government and I hope they go after all the grifters.

(12,712 posts)It is theirs and we are subjected to the payments, when possible, or magic fiat money appears in it if needed.
Stock buybacks have to STOP!!! The corporate tax loophole game has to STOP!!! A "just in time", Neo-liberal, no fat medical system has to STOP!!!
Oh, there is a list, but we should be prepared to do something to save ourselves from being strangled to death for profit when we get the Toxic Oligarch and his merry band of sycophants out. That and the GOP are all about treating corporations one way and the people another. Of course, that has been going on for a very long time and now it is really difficult to not see it.

(54,770 posts)would be around $3,300. Not $300,000. The entire country barely has that much wealth. And if we took it, wealth would drop like a rock. We'd end up living it up for a few months until reality hit.
Besides, most of the first round stimulus requires corporations to keep employees on for about 5 months. Not a bad deal if it works.

(10,435 posts)it works out to $8,264 per household. Nearly all of which would be spent and effective in stimulating the economy.
How much of the Ruth Chris handout will find its way into the economy? I'd bet that is a far smaller percentage.

(54,770 posts)beat your calculation, especially when you figure the average household probably got at least $2,500 directly from stimulus, and will get enhanced unemployment if they lose their job.

(10,435 posts)want the loan forgiven. If they use the 1% money to pay off higher-interest lines of credit, they're still better off even if the employees aren't.
I don't trust corporations to put what's right for the people ahead of taking an opportunity to line their own pockets.

(54,770 posts)limit unemployment now and ensure jobs in the future. BTW -- I don't eat at Ruth's Chris.

(5,453 posts)but we come up with a few trillion whenever the airlines need it (2001, 2009, 2020) to absorb their employees pension funds and lay off union mechanics, but it is somehow communist to feed a hungry school child.
