Those swaggering bastions of bluster, the Guardians of the Steps, have come out of their home-based arms rooms to once again guard some stuff and yell. In full regalia and accouterments, with ammo cross strapped on like Marlon Brando in Viva Zapata!, they are weary of being cooped up in the garage watching YouTube videos of guys shooting up melons and water jugs with 50 Cal. rifles, point blank.
Their women-folk, be it Mom, Grandma, or some other poor gal who makes them wash their hands and brush their teeth, have grown tired of telling them to quit bitching about not being able to go to the range and shower some brass. The guys with kids, heaven help the children, are growing ever tired of doing Dad stuff like playing catch and walking the dog. They want to get them guns out and stand around with other dudes holding some guns, while pissing and moaning about women ruining shit.
And, they long for the days of a good damn gun show every weekend. Those days were so long ago that they look up and close their misty eyes and wonder if there will ever be another gun show at all. The Gun Show, that big romper room where other frustrated and persecuted real Patriots can check their guns at the door and walk around looking at other guys looking at guns. Maybe pick up a bag of caramel popcorn or some crocheted coat hanger covers for Momma. Of course, they’ll lug home a couple thousand rounds of 7.62., because... well... you never know.
Now, though, with their freedoms eroding every day from this damn Democrat Hoax, it’s time to buck up and protest some shit and Guard the Steps! Donald Trump is doing his best to stop the Socialists from taking over, but he desperately needs help! President Trump has sacrificed his happiness for us for 3 long years and it’s high time to give back some well-earned love. So, they layer up their clothing like Jeremiah Johnson and grab their meanest looking assault rifles off the racks. They each tape up and pocket a dozen loaded 50 round magazines just in case the real war touches off on their watch, God willing.
They know it’s high time for some action and call and text their desperate-for-attention buddies. The planning is intense and a mission is decided and they all make sure Google Maps is loaded and functioning well. Sandwiches are whipped up and Gatorade is packed. This is it! A rendezvous point is decided and off they go. They pull up and meet in a parking lot pert-near the the war zone, because some Patriotic crusaders aren’t in the best battle shape from all that hoaxy slack time them Democrats have put on them, but they will make do.
They are super psyched for a grueling afternoon of standing around and shouting. Some soldiers of freedom have persuaded other more articulate members to draw up grass-rooty signs of protest. Signs are an important “arrow in the quiver” for media coverage and are a huge force multiplier. And, here they are, battle-dressed, freedom fighting warriors of the moneyed overlords, ready for the cameras. They are giddy and proud just thinking about coming out for their billionaires who back the struggle.
Adrenaline surging, they grab the signs and MAGA hats and shout-rehearse the agreed upon protest chants, “Tyranny! and “Open Up America, Now!”. They form up, willing and able for at least a short guard mount, PPE be damned, and assume their rugged looking positions on the steps of some government building, somewhere in a swing state. These are America’s Guardians of the Steps and they ain’t gonna take no shit from nobody, so don’t even ask, and please... watch your step.
