Deutsche Bank refuses to give U.S. senators information on recent Trump dealings

POLITICS APRIL 25, 2020 / 8:40 AM / UPDATED 2 HOURS AGO

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE) has declined a request by prominent U.S. senators to provide information about the German lender’s recent business dealings with U.S. President Donald Trump and his family, according to a letter this week seen by Reuters.

Four Democratic senators, led by Elizabeth Warren, earlier this month demanded details from Deutsche Bank Chief Executive Christian Sewing about the bank's interaction this year with Trump and his family's companies. (here)

The bank is one of the largest creditors for Trump’s hotels, golf courses and other properties, according to filings. The senators are concerned the bank may be giving the family preferential treatment on loan repayments in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak as Deutsche Bank itself remains under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Deutsche’s counsel rejected the senators’ request on privacy grounds, according to the letter dated April 21 seen by Reuters.

I think it is going to be difficult to get the "interesting" information from the bank of a foreign country without the full support of Congress.
That being said, it should NOT be difficult to get the tax records - the "law" requires it and we have a "president" that refuses to abide by the law.
Yet another move by IQ45 that should have the "Legislative" branch of our government up in arms - but Moscow Mitch McTurtle is orchestrating the blockage of that action.

It's NOT JUST IQ45 - it is the RepubliCon party!

They must go.

They must ROT IN HELL!

GET OUT THE VOTE!!!!

all these criminal operations were stifled by the House and whomever else will participate from functioning until they comply.

Since most of the world is shut down, now is the time for making demands before allowing forward motion. It makes sens to be thinking in these terms. Including demanding resignations in the WH and Senate.

Who is going to enforce it?!?!?

We already had him by the ba**s for mis-using American funding for a foreign country (you won't get the money until.......) - and Moscow Mitch let him walk!
We have sent issues to the Supreme Court - and they have either rejected appeals or simply voted the way the "Federalists" wanted them to.

WE MUST VOTE THEM ALL OUT!!!!!! They are not "playing by the rules" anymore!

POTUS Biden needs to play hardball.

Biden needs a list of executive orders to go into effect IMMEDIATELY, within minutes of his swearing in.

Use their playbook. Under the new rules, ANYTHING can be done through executive order. Let them waste time trying to reverse them.

Meanwhile, as Captain Picard would say, "make it so".

IT DOES NOT MATTER!!!!!!!

Who is going to "enforce" anything?

Congress?

NO! Moscow Mitch won't let that happen!

Supreme Court?

NO! That will be "considered" until the 12th of forever!

It is the ELECTION that will make things happen. We MUST have the White House. We MUST have ALL of Congress!

A lawful order, or violating privacy over a request, then perhaps you don’t really understand the reason for privacy laws.

What happens if the republicans REQUEST the name and info of the whistleblower or request all of Biden’s financial or medical records?

if nobody will enforce the law.
How many requests did IQ45 or his executive branch deny/ignore to the Congressional committees?
Have you seen any of the reports showing what was in his tax returns?
Did you see the Treasury Department turn over his tax returns AS REQUIRED BY LAW?

Yes, I "really understand" the reason for all laws.

Who is going to enforce them?

That’s the difference. There’s nothing to “enforce” from a request.

As I understand it, the legal wrangling is still going on for his taxes. The SC was supposed to hear oral arguments in March, but has suspended all oral arguments (not just for this case) due to the virus restrictions.
