The reporter Trump was being "sarcastic" to wasn't even there

You may have heard that Trump blamed his injecting disinfectant and light comments on sarcasm toward a reporter. And yes, he wasn't even speaking to a reporter. But that's not all of it... the reporter he says he was speaking to wasn't there that day. White House transcript:

Trump lies and uses people to help give his lies credibility. In this case the reporter was not there so it made Trump look even more foolish. But if the reporter had been there Trump's impromptu lie would have put the questioner in a position of trying to say no it wasn't sarcasm and Trump saying that the reporter just did understand sarcasm.

But it was very clear, clear as day, Trump believed the nonsense he was issuing was an actual solution to the problem.
