McConnell: No more relief funds unless we stop workers from suing if they get sick

By Oliver Willis -April 28, 2020 6:01 PM

Mitch McConnell said the Senate would draw a 'red line' against virus relief legislation unless it protects businesses.

On Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he will not pass any further coronavirus relief unless workers are prevented from suing employers if they get sick on the job.

Speaking to Fox News' Neil Cavuto, McConnell said such an anti-worker provision is a "red line" for the Senate and that no legislation will pass without it. On Monday, McConnell described "liability protections" for employers as an "urgent need" that should be a part of any additional legislation.

Donald Trump has called for backed such provisions as well.

"We have tried to take liability away from these companies," Trump said last week. He claimed that stripping the right to sue from workers is necessary because "we want the companies to open and to open strong."

3. Declare a moratorium...

Declare a moratorium concerning states that continuously take considerably more from the federal pot than they give. Require them to be limited to only the amount of federal funds as they pay out. That's a reasonable expectation and a good red-line.

Then, we can talk. Kentucky is a welfare state thanks to its Republican leaders. That's not our fault and it should stop. Instead of thanks for the help, we get bitten by a snapping turtle who dares to put up roadblocks and ask for deals when it comes to blue states who carry the burden.

It is time for welfare states to learn the dignity of work and healthy, self-reliance. They talk about it. What, are their legislators spending it all on steak, lobster, hookers, booze and drugs, as well as other luxuries? It's time to intervene and get back to some real fiscal values again, not this crazy joy ride for them and their vested interests.

This is why Nancy Pelosi needed to place her priority programs into the first couple of packages before they passed and she had leverage. Pass my priorities as well or no package. Might be too late now.

featuring grieving family members talking about their deceased love one. How he or she couldn't afford to leave their job even though they were scared, because they had to feed their family. How the company knew that people were getting sick left and right, but they decided to stay open because--unlike the workers--with legislation like this, they didn't have anything to lose.

Has there ever been a more blatant national policy that corporations matter and workers don't? Might as well give every meat packer a uniform that has "Expendable" embroidered on it.

but I guess it depends on how bad it gets. The Republicans have no problem letting us all go down the tubes. They've got theirs, and owe their souls.

Then we will switch liability to Dump, McConnell and the lying GOP. You will be held libel and full responsibly for every death. You will be sued until you die.

It’s fascinating and reveals that all he cares about is raising money and staying in power.
