A Covid-19 vaccine may be something you get annually, an Oxford scientist says.

People will probably need to get annual vaccinations to protect against the coronavirus, just as they do for the flu, an Oxford University professor who is working on a vaccine predicted on Sunday.

Sir John Bell, the Regius Professor of Medicine at Oxford University, said on the NBC program “Meet the Press” that while the coronavirus “doesn’t mutate at the pace of flu as far as we can see, but it’s also quite a tricky virus in terms of generating longstanding immune responses to it.”

“As a result,” he said, “I suspect we may need to have relatively regular vaccinations against coronaviruses going into the future. That of course remains to be seen, but that’s my bet at the moment — that this is likely to be a seasonal coronavirus vaccine.”

Dr. Bell is involved in the development at Oxford of a potential vaccine that could begin to be available by September — several months ahead of other announced efforts. “We are pretty sure we’ll get a signal by June about whether this works or not,” he said on Sunday.

but then, the light bulb came on. You can play Russian Roulette but at some point you lose. I know my families history and my medical history, there were a lot of needless deaths that today medicine can do something about.

So I get the flu shot, ended up with 2 this past yr, shot for Shingles, I been through the hepatitis regime because of work. So I'd probably feel a whole lot less stressed with one for Covid.

Now I wouldn’t thinking of not getting one.

What struck me about this news nugget was that this is the same Oxford team that is fast tracking a vaccine and it appears they are preparing us for a limited immunity response.

So it’s not like some diseases where you are one and done and immunized for life.

This little monster virus 🦠 won’t go quietly into the night.
