Experts warn that loosening restrictions too soon could cause to a spike in new COVID-19 cases, and earlier this week, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said that while the city would still hold its annual July 4 fireworks display, the details remain unclear.

The National Park Service confirmed ... that as of now, they are still expecting to hold an Independence Day event on the Mall this year. In an emailed statement, NPS spokesperson Mike Litterst wrote, “As President Trump mentioned, the Department of the Interior and NPS are continuing to plan for a Fourth of July celebration on the National Mall.”
