(57,446 posts)I'd be thinking that the video supported charging the assailants with murder in the first degree.
I'm not sure what possessed these guys to film themselves doing this.
They'd better lawyer up.

(6,477 posts)Remember, there were many Zimmerman supporters here as well. They're going to come out of the woodwork supporting these two shitheel murderers.
The courage of that young man, fighting for his life against a coward with a gun. Fuck.

(43,356 posts)these two murderous thugs?
I think you are dead wrong, and I am hard pressed for a justifiable reason for you to make such a bomb-toss of a statement.
Time will tell.

(58,785 posts)on a different forum. Is that it? The kind where some of the LW-RW populist types spout some of the white power garbage they're not allowed to here? Admit some do, or did!, come to rant about the need to destroy the ACA and replace it with more for less, just as they do on trumpster forums.

(6,477 posts)Thanks though.

(58,785 posts)Even at their worst, when their candidate had some victories, the few aggressive white male populists who came here did not push that kind of racial hostility as you imply. They pushed anti-Democratic, anti-democracy, anti-ACA hostility. And those who did touch the third rail of white-on-black racism were gotten rid of.

(29,322 posts)The are often defenders when racist incidents are open to interpretation. They weren't involved in the left-centrist fights at DU. Most of them hung out in the gun forum. I have been here since 2008.

(4,554 posts)I took the "...Zimmerman supporters 'here as well'." to refer to the locale where the murder took place rather than DU.
If so, I too would be v surprised to see any significant support expressed here for those loathsome dirt-bags.

(17,863 posts)after driving up with his buddies, also armed.
How is this not out and out murder? Brandishing itself is an overt act. He would have been justified in shooting at them if he had a gun.

Fuck them. They killed him in cold blood. They were stopped and waiting for him.
I need to step away from the PC...my blood is boiling and I am crying.

(10,125 posts)How is it even a question?
It's brutal.
They did not have to kill him - even if they thought he was a burglar.
He was not armed. They were.
They had no legal excuse or authority to kill him.

(10,828 posts)Caught on video. Both of these low-lifes should be hung up by their ankles. And if a grand jury can't find cause to charge these two???
Willful blindness.
And no, I don't buy the story that they thought Aubery was a burglar. Unless we now sanction mindless vigilantism. A convenient excuse pressed against an inconvenient, chilling video.

(32,456 posts)The shooters father, former District Attorney investigator Greg McMichael, who was with his son at the time, called 911 at 1:08 p.m.
McMichael: Im out here at Satilla Shores and theres a black man running down the street."
911 dispatcher: I just need to know what he was doing wrong, was he just on the premises and not supposed to be?
McMichael: And hes been caught on the camera a bunch before at night. Its an ongoing thing out here.
McMichael later told police he suspected that Arbery was burglarizing houses under construction at in the Brunswick neighborhood.
According to the police report, McMichael was calling called for his son, Travis, who grabbed his shotgun because they didnt know if the male was armed or not.
Police said the elder McMichael armed himself with his .357 handgun and the two followed Arbery for two blocks before, according to the report, McMichael shouted: Stop, stop we want to talk to you. They pulled up next to him and police said the former investigators son exited the truck with a shotgun.
McMichael told police Arbery then violently attacked his son, and the two men started fighting over the shotgun, Travis McMichael fired two shots, killing Arbery. Police said the McMichaels rolled Arbery over to see if he a weapon before. No weapon was found.

(11,738 posts)911 Dispatch said, "No, don't get out of the car and go after him..." The dispatcher here said, "I just need to know what he is doing wrong.."
The answer to both: "Well, he's black and he is walking around breathing and stuff, and we can't abide by that".
How the hell did they know it was the same person (IF there was actually a person) burglarizing homes? Did they have him under surveillance?
At least Murder 2 if not Murder 1.

(32,456 posts)Attorney Lee Merritt, who is representing the family, told CNN Sunday "the decision to rely on the citizen's arrest statute is really a recent invention, prior to that they just simply said it was self defense." Merritt says now the men are trying to use the law to say they were trying to stop a crime.
"According to that law, you actually have to be observing the crime or be in the immediate knowledge of the crime," Merritt said. "The only thing they have ever said is ... that Ahmaud stopped by a house that was under construction and he looked through the window. We don't know if that happened or not, but even if that did happen that is not a felony that would invoke the citizen's arrest statute that would make this allowable."
'We expect action this week'
After the shooting, Gregory McMichael told police he saw the same man "the other night" and that he stuck his hand down his pants on that occasion, leading McMichael to believe he was armed.

(58,785 posts)to recommend prosecution. A way of handling a racially explosive and (shocking that it should be so) politically divisive murder that's gone national.
I just looked. This little census-designated crossroads is 90% white in spite of being in south rural GA just north of the black belt. Apparently a white nest on the periphery of nearby larger Hazelhurst, which is nearly 30% black and 8% Hispanic.
I always snoop residential construction I walk by. Such a horrible tragedy.
