Its just the flu. Were at 15 cases going soon to zero. Its going to miraculously go away. Were doing a great job. My ratings are great, like Monday night football.

I haven't noted any probs with canned fish in my local grocery store yet, though they do limit meat purchases to one per customer.
The immediate problem is with meat packing houses and the meat supply chain. No mention has been made of any issues with fish.
You can assume that fish will vanish and we will be forced to find our own. You could also assume all food will vanish and I should learn how to harvest wild acorns too.
You can also anticipate a collapse of civilization and that we will be forced to make flint hand axes to hunt and kill wild game.

(12,132 posts)hopefully she'll add some ingredients to the next list she sends me - If she sends me to the store for more than 1 thing, I'll absolutely forget something or things.
I'm the designated shopper so everyone else can stay home (I'm at work every day already so since I have to be out anyway it just makes sense). Don't know if it helps but she hates grocery shopping anyway so I guess it does help her lol.

(9,897 posts)1) SARS-CoV-2 is discovered and believed to be possibly originally from infected bat meat (or POSSIBLY)....at any rate, the hypothesis that the virus STARTED with tainted food hass some currency, correct? (If 'no', then the rest of my concerns are alleviated...)
2) How is it that infected workers are not then also infecting or contaminating the meat supply and increasing the spread of the virus to people who unpack and handle the meat for preparation? (I know that cooking the meat would almost certainly kill the virus, but what about handling the raw meat?)
3) If the meat supply COULD be contaminated, would there be a public acknowledgement of this or would it be covered up assiduously?
Thanks to any who understand this better than I do...
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)slaughtered and cleaned before them. The bats were alive as a warm host and the process of killing and cleaning them released SARS-COV-2 into the air to be inhaled as live virus.
Packed meat is put on ice or frozen, virus can't survive that.

(8,390 posts)My husband also just tested positive for the tick-borne disease alpha gal, so he can't have beef, pork, or any meat from four-legged animals. I'm worried about what I'm going to cook - I guess veggies, eggs, and cheese. I'm looking into local producers for poultry.

(19,276 posts)And my flock of chickens lay tons of eggs, especially now that they're free ranging the yard for bugs.
A soft fried egg over a plate of beans and rice, letting the yolk run down, is really good. It can be paired with lots of garden vegetables.
And given how fast the chickens are breeding, I can spare a few for meat now and then.
Another 5-6 months and it's deer, duck, rabbit, squirrel and pheasant season.
