It's surreal we even have to be trying to save our USPS!
I am just at a loss for words, Cha.

Sharice does seem to be learning and maturing in her job. I was so excited when she won.

(297,196 posts)Thanks for kicking for the USPS, Hermit! So Important in my book.
There's differing opinions on the Nala's look some say she's smiling.

(33,342 posts)But that look says, "I'm watching you, human. Do the right thing. We can play or ..."
The choice is simple. The USPS is doing a good job; GOPers are destroying government and killing people. We should oust all GOP.

(33,342 posts)Our first mail carrier, back during the Carter administration, was a bit of a grump, but even he was friendly, courteous and dependable. He wasn't even upset when my dog caught his car one day. The car kept going while the dog stood with the rubber bumper cover in his mouth. "Gip" just tossed it in his trunk the next day, saying, "Well, the good part is still there."
All of the mail carriers here have driven this road at times when I would've waited for a snowplow or spring. These folks don't seem to look for ways to get out of the job.
Cha
(297,196 posts)who doesn't like the mail.. on the chance it could be something good.
That's a funny story about your dog catching your mail carrier's car and their kind reaction to it.
I just found out something.. I thought our Post Office, closest to me, was closing down. I didn't know it was suppose to be in Dec 2017, though!
It was built in 1939..
Postal Service will keep open historic Kauai post office
Lihue- A historic post office on Kauai will remain open after the U.S. Postal Service reversed a decision to shut it down.
The service had announced its decision to close the Lihue Post Office in December 2017, prompting hundreds of letters and coconuts to be sent to the service in support of keeping the post office open.
The agency planned to close the Rice Street office to consolidate operations at its carrier annex facility next to the Lihue Airport. The consolidation also aimed to solve ongoing parking problems and access issues at the historic building.
After a thorough review of our options, we decided it would be in the best interest of our customers and the Postal Service not to relocate our retail services from our Rice Street facility, said spokesman Duke Gonzales.

Kauai County Mayor Derek Kawakami thanked officials for their work in keeping the office open, especially the people of Kauai who saw the value of maintaining our sense of place and rural character.

Now if only all our Post Offices will remain open!

(33,342 posts)Some things are just essential parts of a community. Most people love their mail service.
If the USPS didn't have to carry the unreasonable burden imposed on it by GOP, it would be in fine financial shape today.
Cha
(297,196 posts)never sent a coconut.
I know.. it's beyond sickening what the gophucks have done to our USPS and keep planning to do.

(297,196 posts)didn't click on.. I'm down enough already.
We already know there's no depth to what trump will do to ruin our country and the world.. and sure enough.. each day brings more fresh hell.
When I saw that I was wondering about what the mail peeps would be thinking.. I'm worried about our mail and their pensions!

(33,342 posts)I'm hoping that Speaker Pelosi is letting the GOP know that the USPS will not be damaged. All appropriations bills must originate in our House. She has some leverage.
Cha
(297,196 posts)the House Victory in 2018!
I saw her on Colbert clip about a month ago talking about this.. and in essence saying trump didn't want to save the USPS.
There's got to be some way to shut that dictator down.. I'd like it to be saved Before 2021.
Storm the White House to SOPO!

(297,196 posts)I've been thinking about all those retailers who do business through our USPS.. as in what in the heck are they going to do without our Post Office?! In addition to us out here in the middle of nowhere. I've been talking about this to my family for a couple of months.
Is it me or does $2 Million seem like a small amount for this kind of challenge?

I bookmarked and KR it.. Thank you Again!
Hermit-The-Prog
(33,342 posts)I don't know how much tv ad time $2 million will buy. Hopefully, they know how to persuade and are willing to up the ante if necessary.
I know FedEx sometimes hands off packages to the USPS for last mile delivery. They should be in that coalition, too.
You've given me so many links to stories I'd otherwise miss, just trying to pay some back.
Cha
(297,196 posts)who can get through to the repubs that everybody likes the USPS.. so don't let them down bc "dictator" wants to dictate for his own selfish ass reasons.
Didn't know that about Fed-Ex..
I think shuttering the USPS would help kill the economy off after all trump's done to kill it, so far. Can you imagine all the communication and deliveries that would just Stop?
Well, Thank You, for being so kind.
Hermit-The-Prog
(33,342 posts)Note how quickly they moved to nominate a trump toad for Postmaster General. Mail-in ballots could undermine a lot of their work at voter suppression as well as side-step those completely idiotic electronic voting machines.
We need the USPS!
Cha
(297,196 posts)so much easier than standing in line for so many hours because they've used Voter Suppression anyway they can. They shut down Voting sites even before trump let the CV lose on our Nation.
trump will have to emphatically be reminded by Dem Leaders about how the Military Votes.
SAVE OUR SOPO!

(29,674 posts)She's a freshman who is learning how to adjust to her position. She mostly keeps her head down and nose to the grindstone. You rarely here about her making any kind of inflammatory statements in the news.
We need more people in Congress who are willing to show up, do the hard work and not showboat.

(297,196 posts)For the reasons you describe, too. She's just really into it for her District, the country, and the Planet!

(50 posts)Im so thankful (and a little surprised) that she got elected here in Kansas. Though we have a Democrat in the governors office now, and Im hoping the republicans nominate Kris Kobach in their senate primary, because I think that would send a Democrat to the senate for the first time since like the 1920s!

(20,246 posts)Waiting for order of stamps, gift bags and a pull back mail truck replica!
Fetched my mail at my newish PO Box Thursday. I got same size box husband had but was too small. When I renew soon, I'll get a #4. They know what happened to me last year and hold mail in back if need be. I gave a buddy a key, but this stupid virus messed up him going there to fetch mail for me when he was right in the area. There's 6 agents at that branch including Post 'Mistress' and so Thursday gifted them $$$ for lunch or anything. I insisted. At the holidays I brought goodies. Mainly chocolates and cookies! Whatever agent I left them with, I said "Don't forget to share!" 😄
Mahalo,Cha!
Blessings!
