Spanish Flu circa 1918 holding signs saying the same.

5. Spain was neutral during WWI, so they were the only ones reporting on flu statistics, whereas other

nations involved in the war were being censored from reporting so it appeared that most cases were coming out of Spain. I had heard that most cases had started on an Army base in Kansas and spread throughout the world from there, but I don't even think they can be sure about that. It definitely did not originate in Spain, however.
