We're already at the base of the steep hill. When we started we were way back on the flat part.

Stepping on the accelerator now (by increasing exposure) is suicide.

There are likely more cases today (bad).
We have more guidance on social distancing and many are wearing masks (good).
People that have been infected can't be transmitters (good).

Hmmm...what else?

Outside of a few major cities.

We're so far from herd immunity, you can't even see it yet.

The few million people with POSSIBLE immunity aren't even a speed bump on the rate of transmission.
