Daughter-in-chief: Ivanka Trump pushes food distribution program

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Agriculture Department is unveiling a new food distribution program with an emphasis on aiding small businesses – an issue that is being pushed by a very prominent White House adviser.

Her name: Ivanka Trump.

Under the "Farmers to Families Food Box Program," the federal government buys meat, produce and dairy products from farmers and ranchers, then provides it to local distribution centers that pack and deliver food boxes to those in need.

-snip-

Trump, who called UPS chief executive David Abney about volunteering trucks to make food box deliveries, said she and others are "pulling all the levers" they can. And, no, the last name doesn't hurt.

So Donny Dotard who wants to shut down the USPS also wants UPS, a private company, to volunteer trucks to make free deliveries for his princess's vanity project. I guess it's a step up from having your designer clothing made in Chinese sweat shops. It's just not a very large step.

That's just a rehash of the box program they floated to end or cut down on SNAP. It was so full of holes for some many reasons that it looked insane. It was rather demeaning and inconsiderate and even the logistics were a problem concerning delivery to some rural residents. It was dropped, thankfully and we still have SNAP for now.

No consideration was even given for people with dietary issues, allergies, etc. Food is not a one-size-fits-all and choice is sometimes a necessity to some degree, even for the hungry.

There is nothing original in Princess Electra's tiny little Xmas tree bulb.

Ah, try making SNAP easier to get for more people and raising the allotment to something that is above near starvation, Barbie.

distributing USDA food. Nothing new, except for the UPS bullshit. They want to eliminate Food Stamps it seems.

Multimillion-dollar food bank delivery contracts go to firms with little experience

The Agriculture Department has awarded multimillion-dollar contracts to companies that appear to have little experience working with food banks or farmers, spurning several big produce companies with extensive expertise in food distribution.

An event planning company in San Antonio, Texas, known for throwing lavish weddings and high-end conferences, was awarded more than $39 million — one of the largest contracts handed out by USDA under a new program aimed at matching up food banks with surplus produce, meat and dairy.

Also on the list was a company that specializes in trade-related finance and one that sells health and wellness items for travelers.

Muzyk of Baldor Specialty Foods said it’s clear that some companies applied without understanding what’s really required to purchase, pack and distribute fresh food at the scale the program requires. It requires proper cold storage capacity and trucks as well as food safety practices, particularly for produce which is vulnerable to contamination.

This is set to be yet another "Trump family exemplifies Dunning-Kruger stupidity about their own ability, awards contracts to unqualified firms, probably due to friendships, backhanders, campaign support etc., throws taxpayer money at incompetent companies without solving the problem they caused in the first place, then walks away from it after a photo-op holding a box of food while wearing a mask, and supine media talks mostly about how she's so sensible to wear a mask, and maybe the Republicans should run her in 2024???".
