I'd have to guess that there are some minority folks out there who are just as dumb as it relates to opening too soon as the dumbest white Trump supporter.

...not to mention on the other end of the spectrum that there are minorities who actually have small (and large) businesses which they own that they'd like to open so that they can remain viable enough to at least feed their families and pay their mortgages.

There's certainly lots of stupidity and greed behind these re-openings but it's not quite so uh, black and white.

And people who do kitchen work are majority POC, and I suspect (though I don't have hard numbers) that the service staff skews majority POC, as well.

They want to pretend they're an oppressed group and force actually oppressed groups back into work when it is not safe to do so, because they can't self-isolate for the good of the community.

It's much like Tomi Lahren's recent tweet decrying the (mythical) "pro-eternal shutdown cheerleaders" and saying that the LGBTQ+ community won't be so happy when Pride events are cancelled. Except that Pride events have been either cancelled or moved into a virtual online space broadly across the USA and Canada, because the LGBTQ+ community has experienced oppression, and they've also experienced a deadly pandemic with a Republican in office before, so we know how this all goes down. We're not going to protest the cancellation of Pride events because the health of the community is paramount.

She is absolutely right. These are exactly the kind of people who would be demanding and run you ragged because each person insisted on being served water, or coffee or whatever the hell they drank on an individual basis. I would ask if they would like some coffee and one person would say yes. I would ask if anyone else wanted coffee and no one would respond, but as soon as I served the first person another one would ask for coffee. Again I would ask if anyone else wanted some. It just went on and on like that. They don’t know how to dine out. And when it came time to leave a tip it was a toss up whether they left a pittance or stiffed me.

Assholes are assholes in all aspects of their lives, but when it comes to being served they ratchet it up a few notches. Why? Because they can. Or because their boss yelled at them that day or because they just feel entitled.
