Been watching Season 4 of The Last Kingdom on Netflix

I’m up to the sixth episode and without giving away any major spoilers, I will say that the plague/“sickness” starts to play a notable role in the story.

The show takes place in the 9th Century in what is now Great Britain, and it’s fascinating how we seem to just as befuddled about contagious diseases now as they were back then.

I doubt the show’s producers knew how timely their plot would be.

It might not the greatest show on television but it’s still extremely good. And very entertaining and addicting. I usually watch an episode a night and look forward to it immensely.

My only qualms with it are: a) half the characters have the same name, or at least something that is very similar (Aeth-so and so) and b) the ages of some of the actors are a bit off. (Alfred’s wife is barely older than her son, and Uthred hasn’t aged at all.)

But other than that, for a show with a large cast it’s very straightforward and easy to understand. Someone once compared it to a historically based version of Game of Thrones, but with GOT sometimes you needed a complex chart to know who was who and what was going on, and this on the other hand is very easy to follow.
