DU'ers on hydroxychloroquine check in here.

(Seriously, don't chime in if you are not wanting to expose personal information online)

Remember how fun it was starting that drug?

Remember how it takes 2-3+ months to really get into your system to rattle things around?

Remember the annual eye exams and regular bloodwork?

Remember the brain fog that sets in?

Remember the heart issues that come with it? My resting heart rate is 55 and I'm no athlete. I have lost 20 pounds this year, but that's from a muscle wasting disease I have too.

I've been on this drug for a worse disease (that will probably kill me if I catch Covid) for more than 8 years.

So, enjoy all the PLAQUENIL (name brand) that you can find. No one that is prescribed this drug is taking it for shits and giggles. It's not like taking an extra Vitamin C or two to help during cold season.

Oh, it also gives you a brain fog too.

Now drop it. It's all a distraction from Barr using the DOJ to cover up crimes of trumpco.

Most people probably won’t be catching the Covid real soon. And most people that do will have mild or even no symptoms. So those in that category who are taking chloroquine will attribute that to taking the drug. They aren’t real clear on cause and effect.

Maybe if you started having COVID symptoms, it might be something to consider trying, but that doesn’t mean you start popping it like it’s Vitamin D.

Why is everything so WRONG with Trump?

Either he's taking a risky drug for no good reason other than, who knows, owning the libs or getting his cultists to spend money.

Or he just invented that lie on the spur of the moment because his lizard brain thought, "Need distraction. Need justify previous gushing about drug." And the whole White House lie machine lurched into action to start supporting this lie... just so Trump wouldn't be shown to have told his 18001th lie.

And of course, his cultists will now rush off and try to get this drug, making it harder for the people who need it.

Isn't it taken by people with Lupus, etc. to stop their bodies from over responding? It is not a virus prevention drug. If you take it prior to getting Covid-19 won't that prevent your body from fighting at all? It might be something to take at just the right time if doctors see your body may be over reacting during the illness, but too early and too late will do damage or no good at all.

I have been on Hydroxychloroquine for 7 months and none of the side effects have been bad. In fact, it has lessened the amount of existing heart palpitations I've suffered with for decades. Main effects: queasiness that comes and goes, a little "buzz" due to the stimulant effect, some minor itching. I do need to get my eyes checked yearly--macular degeneration is a side effect that can happen but its rare. However, they do monitor you.

Some people have been on this drug for decades. Its incredible for Lupus--has given me my life back.

Don't take if you have long QT syndrome, epilepsy or liver/kidney issues.

Do you know if you have/had an arrhythmia, or did you “feel” your heart? Lupus is a horrible disease, I’m glad it’s working for you.

9. PVC palpitations
Tue May 19, 2020, 11:37 AM
May 2020

I have had PVC palpitations for years. I also have paroxymal Afib (controlled by a beta blocker). I started taking Prednisone for Lupus first--that increased my general palpitations. Then I started taking 200 mg hydroxychloroquine which I feel has reduced (but not stopped them). Quinine, which is related to Hydroxychloroquinej, is known for helping with palpitations. This may all be coincidence but its what I have observed.

I still get batches of palpitations at times-they are here to stay with me.

I’m a nurse, and hadn’t heard this about Plaquenil before. (I deal with lupus usually in the setting of renal failure)
I’ve given the med to people many times, but my patients are usually on multiple medications for one reason or the other. And yeah, prednisone can be absolutely brutal.

13. But it also causes problems
Tue May 19, 2020, 12:56 PM
May 2020

I had read online that quinine helped with AFib but I know it also causes the long QT stuff like Hydroxychloroquine.

Maybe its just my imagination with the Hydroxychloroquine (re: palpitations). Its interesting though that having palpitations and Afib didn't stop me from getting the drug. To my knowledge I don't have the long Qt stuff. I would expect that if I develop further heart issues (which run in my family) that might take me off the Plaquinil but maybe not...

Azathioprine (chemo) made me immediately ill.

I'm off of methotrexate while I see what happens with covid.

I was in a very bad way before taking plaquenil. I was just pointing out some of the side effects.

10. People react differently to meds

Everyone reacts differently to medication. Hydroxychloroquine is said to be well tolerated, but that doesn't mean some people won't have side effects that are uncomfortable for them. Or even the documented adverse effects.

I tried 400 mg--that gave me dizziness and insomnia. I was only at that dose for a week though. I do fine with 200 mg.
