4 me it was a massive pain with 5 college lab courses at 2 campuses.
I'm glad it's over.

(41,757 posts)I see the need for online and hybrid courses, but students like live in-class courses better.
My students didn't get the hands-on lab skills they need, but they are all healthy and alive.
We also did a timed on-line departmental final for all 5 courses - and the class averages were a letter grade plus better than the long term average.
So maybe they cancelled out.

(1,355 posts)It was horrible, I had so much more work. Students based all over the world. Some not able to see required films. And the students were disappointed that we had to finish online. This summer Im planning for both scenarios but hoping for in person. Some classes, like art and film, are simply not for online teaching.

(41,757 posts)I had a few students that didn't have internet or devices that could handle Word files.
Our IT and student support people were heroes to get them connected.
I was seriously impressed.

(765 posts)I was already teaching three online classes this spring. One of my in-person classes was painful, mainly because the students absolutely wanted an in-person class (Ive taught it online in the past). I had pretty bad motivation issues more than anything else. It was a real struggle to keep the students engaged.
I miss my babies.
Calling them tomorrow to tell them goodbye and have a great summer
