Actually I’ve been around since nearly the beginning. Don’t post that much though. A few years back I decided to adopt this new name, not realizing I would lose my old one, which was WatchWhatISay ( as in Ari Fleischer’s comment that “People should watch what they say”). Its ok, I prefer this one anyway.

They are brilliant to have even thought of creating this site! I remember being in a terrible emotional state during Dubbya’s Administration and 911. In desperation I typed “democratic” and one of the finds was DU. I lurked for years and years getting emotional sustenance and then joined. I hope I’ve been able to give back even partially of what I’ve received!

It's so wonderful to have a sanctuary of like-minded people to come to when the insanity of the world comes crashing down all around you. And I have learned so much from all of you. You are all like a family to me now.

I remember way back in the early days of DU. Even when it started out it was the best.
We used to laugh at the Free Republic site and how primitive it was. And at the time their subscribers dwarfed us.

49. I was having some computer/internet glitch last week, and I

immediately assumed that DU had been hacked. "Here it goes!" was my reaction. I dread to think if something happens in these months leading up to the election.

DU -- great newsfeed, opinion and discussion board, and even the best of political cartoons! Add in some incredible writing and very witty folks, and it's a must for staying current and sane.
