Wouldn't mail-in ballots actually provide a better defense against so-called voter fraud?

Every ballot sent to a registered voter would have its own unique barcode or product identification code on it. People could fill out the ballot at home and take a photo of it.

If someone makes duplicate copies, the duplicates and originals would be tossed out since it would have the same code. The voter would be notified if this happened and could take steps to challenge the decision.

If someone mailed in a ballot and then tried to vote in person, the system would recognize two ballots.

Ballots could be dropped off at certain public locations, post offices, govt bldgs, polling places, or any where there are cameras to record if someone is stealing ballots.

Voter registration rolls could be cross checked against death records to confirm if a ballot should be sent to the voter.

Not only would mail-in voting be safer, it would be a better check against voter fraud.

That's just their excuse to stop people from voting. They know there is no voter fraud. There is so little voter fraud, I doubt there is one case in the history of the country where fraudulent votes could have turned any election, ever. At least, in the last 50 years.

5. I have voted in an in-person state and a VBM state

In the VBM state (Oregon) the outer envelope is identified with your name and a bar code. You are required to sign the back of this envelope for it to be counted. If the signature doesn't match your voter registration, then the ballot is held aside. As a voter, you can go online and check if your ballot was counted. If it was set aside because of a signature missing or mis-match, then you have an opportunity to correct the problem. Someone with an illness (broken arm) who might have had difficulty signing would be able to have their vote go through.

In California, where they have both VBM and in-person voting (I worked as a Poll Inspector for many years) the voter rolls at the polling locations have the registrations highlighted for people who requested absentee ballots. If someone comes in and tries to vote and their name shows that they have received a ballot at home, they are required to either turn in their VBM ballot or vote a provisional ballot.

The whole voter fraud thing is BS. People who aren't registered to vote can't vote. People cannot vote multiple times. You can't bus people in from a neighboring state to get them to vote. And both Oregon and the area of California where I lived (can't speak for the entire state) use paper ballots. They aren't hackable and they can be counted by hand if necessary.

Plus, the only actual instances of true voter fraud in recent years came from Republicans. The ballot harvesting in North Carolina last year comes to mind. And the Republican woman in Washington state who opened ballots and filled in races where the voter left the space blank.

In other words, I agree with you!

And I am very happy that CA allows absentee balloting
I study the ballot and fill it out at home and then drop it off at my polling place on Election Day
There are always propositions on the ballot that make a difference in CA lives and I love not feeling rushed when I vote
I think Trump was counting on Putin hacking our voting machines so he could win. I think McConnell was in on the plot because McConnell refused to allow the Senate to vote on protecting our voting machines if I remember correctly
I also think Trump was counting on seniors refusing to work at the polls on Election Day so there would be long lines and people to hold give up and go home
Plus Repubs would close polling stations in Dem areas with the excuse there weren’t enough poll workers

Texas is fighting tooth and nail to not allow just anybody to request an absentee ballot. Taking it to the state Supreme Court. They say that only folks over 65 and those with a certified disability should be allowed to vote at home. Being fearful of catching Corona Virus is not a valid excuse.

C'mon Texas! Go Blue!

here in Nevada. All by mail. When one sends in your Ballot, the outside of the Envelop has to be signed and their is a Bar Code with your info on the Ballot and if those two things are do not match, out it goes .

The Rethugs know if we use a mail in system like Oregon has used for quite some time, they loose big time.

7. The fewer voter who go to vote the better for Rethugs.

Rethugs have made voter suppression an art and science to keep voting Dems at the polls to an absolute minimum.

Mail in voting would blow all this hard work voter suppression out of the water. Too many Dems would vote.

Rethugs call any attempt to get more Dem voters to the polls election fraud,.. but voter suppression is the game and prize Rethugs are after.

Rethugs can't win elections fairly,... so cheat,.. lie,... swindle and cheat the election some more is their winning strategy.

Then they have the audacity to call themselves religious, morality, and Family Value voters.

8. Since "voter fraud" really means "voting by people who tend to not like us"

then because it makes it easier for those people to vote, it increases "voter fraud".

Just have to know the definition of the term.

they haven't figured out a way to make all those votes go away.....yet. It's like Covid-19 and testing, if you don't have results to count, it doesn't count. Poof...it's gone.
