Tuesday's Oregon Primary Broke a Turnout Record

Email from the Oregon Democratic Primary:

Oregonians just shattered voter turnout records.

More Oregonians voted in this week’s primary than in any other previous primary in Oregon’s history!

Despite the necessary COVID-19 restrictions and limitations, Oregon voters shocked vote-by-mail naysayers across the country and cast more than 1.3 million ballots in the 2020 primary, even eclipsing the records set in the 2008 and 2016 primaries.

What's more, Oregon Democrats had a higher turnout rate than Oregon Republicans.

This is why the Republicans are going berserk trying to stop the VBM. They don't seem to understand that if the virus is still bad or worse in November, their voters will be afraid to go to the polls too!

Edit to add: But Ol' Uncle Vlad can't hack paper ballots. So there's that.

Although it was one of the more interesting ones - with several very qualified candidates running. I wish Jamie McLeod-Skinner were running for Walden's seat again. She worked her ass off two years ago. Now we have a real nut bag right winger running to replace Walden. It's a very red district, but Jamie won Deschutes County last time - which is Walden's home county! The Dem we have in the District 2 race is a nothingburger.

It's just wonderful to see great turnout. November will be even higher!

Let the world know the U.S. is not all crazy. You give me hope, and I hope an equal dose of dread to Republicans.

I hope we can show everyone how good mail voting works and if you don’t want to mail like me you can drop off at box at election office.

Vote by mail is great, I love it, but let’s keep some perspective on the turnout imbalance.
