(14,195 posts)Adding A Nylon Stocking Layer Could Boost Protection From Cloth Masks, Study Finds
April 22, 20201:34 PM ET
Researcher Loretta Fernandez of Northeastern University wears a homemade face mask without and with an extra outer layer made from nylon stockings (right). The added nylon outer layer significantly boosted masks' ability to filter out small particles, her research found.

(7,947 posts)I do have several pantihose with runs in them... will have to try this.

(14,195 posts)... the pantyhose on your mouth/nose gums up the AI - facial recognition software. It provides a designation of anonymous for you while out in public and it helps filter out the kooties from the Coronavirus so they don't invade your respiratory system.

(6,930 posts)If I have to enter a store in summer, guess what? It will be air conditioned. Doing outside activities alone or with family, I do not need a mask. Good for her for promoting mask wearing. Wow, you think she has done something wrong.

(26,164 posts)You know, like anti-Trump stuff, pro-labor stuff, pro-LGBT stuff, pro women stuff. MAGATs and Trump and his kids are always attacking her with disgusting memes and names, and try to doxx her and her family. So, you know, he is such a publicity hound s/
First-rate tone policing by you btw -- A+ for effort.
Oh, and those masks? They have carbon filters in them, and they also have a fold/pouch for other filtering material.
Get over it.

(15,417 posts)I think we've grown far too tolerant of rampant idiocy, and I don't blame people at all for getting angry about it.
Of course, if you respond ONLY with name calling, and no good explanation or rationale, that's not good. That's Trump like.
But if someone supplies a good and necessary counter-argument (in this case explaining the filter inside the mask), I have no problem with that person spicing up their response bit with some well-deserved snark as well.
