I believe that it is significant that 50% of foot soldiers loath Trump. I can see why officers don't like him, he embodies all the wrong things that would instantly end their careers. But foot soldiers, especially today's ones, tend to give extra leeway to republicans and as a result, tend to noticeably favor republicans. If he continues to lose more that 50% of the military (officers plus enlisted) he is done, they reflect some of the most conservative elements of society.
