Is that because they want to crack heads? Make the protesters the problem, not cops behavior. The fucking cops are giddy now because they are allowed to go out and abuse protesters in order to escalate the whole situation. cops escalated, folks fight back, and the narrative is .... 'look at these people rioting' .......... the American's living under apartheid police control have had their final fuck. Me too. Reminds me of Union worker fighting for their lives and livelihood, as cops shot and killed them ... coal workers, factory workers ... same old same old. Yes, many other brave Americans have fought many other fights. But, this one is on the burner now.

(16,616 posts)channels all day, the police have spent an inordinate amount of time talking about what non-lethal weapons they can deploy against these protesters. (It's calmed down a little bit now from what it was two hours ago). Not one word of empathy or understanding for the protesters or any talk about defusing the situation.

(6,930 posts)Why do people say this every time there is a riot? Remember the Rodney King riots? Remember the poor guy driving a damn truck beaten within an inch of his life? They were from the neighborhood there. Some kind of mysterious looters and arsonists who show up every time? Wth?

(10,273 posts)All the taxi drivers were Somalian immigrants. Seem to be a pretty anti-immigrant attitude there. So in typical RW fashion lump them all together.
Wasnt it in Minneapolis a couple years ago where some cop shot the woman who had called for them, from inside the police car...hard to believe he thought his life was threatened. I think she was Australian or something? Anyways, seems excessive force is common there.

(29,723 posts)campus cop shop. I was one of the clerks that worked the counter.....giving out daily parking passes and taking money for parking fines. We had one cop (security guard), that when on duty would really piss the student off more then when they came in. He would immediately lower his voice, puff out his chest and make the student more pissed off then when they came in. Oh yah, he was fantastic at stoking the heat the student was feeling. Ugh......a real asshole. But, if the Chief was on duty, hed be having the student laughing and willing to pay more then the fine required. Needless to say, I wanted our Chief to be working more then the asshole who just didnt know how to defuse a bad situation.

(10,273 posts)Surplus Tactical equipment. Small towns getting armored cars. The town I was in at the time picked up one of those armored trucks that were supposed to resist an IED blast. Every little city needs one of those. I suppose weapons too but not sure about that part.
