But I cannot think of any sort of circumstances that would justify keeping your knee on a handcuffed mans neck for 9 minutes or however long it was, with your hands in your pocket. I cant see how anyone could think it is not murder.

They all stood there waiting for George Floyd to die.

(12,310 posts)murder in the first degree. The fact that he had his hands in his pockets proves that Floyd was absolutely no threat at all to Chauvin. You don't put your hands on your pockets when defending yourself

(32,017 posts)Murder 2--dead minimum. If it turns out (as some have speculated) that the cop and the victim had a history of working together at two, separate, business establishments, it might be different. If I'm the DA, and I get a whiff of a grudge between these two men, I am going for murder 1. The three cops who stood by and let it happen are accessories to murder. They should have been arrested and charged already.

(32,626 posts)kneeling on a handcuffed persons neck, must imply intent. That's a long time to not think about what you're doing, and what results you're hoping for.

(798 posts)The question that keeps coming to mind is "WHY??" Why was that necessary? Why not put him in the car and take him to jail?? WHY was it necessary for all of those men to sit on him until he was dead?
WHY?

(31,261 posts)They could have locked the guy in the back of a cruiser while whatever they supposedly were waiting for was worked out. I just don't see any justification at all for putting a suspect that was under control into a position that could result in injury or death to that person.

Video certainly speeds up the telling, though.
