Can we not lose track that 105,000 Americans are dead from COVID, many due to Trump's incompetence

Just about every thread on this page is about the protests. The cable news nets are 24/7 riots and protests, they don't even have the updated death count on the screen any more.

Trump is being given a pass on his disastrous handling of the virus, and he can't be allowed to skate.

His poll numbers were cratering, and the only way the hemorrhaging was going to stop was to change the subject. Don't let coverage of the protests - which have to be covered - be allowed to be that game changer.

It's so important not to forget this, in the midst of all of the protests.

We will lose MANY MANY more.

There should be no live protests at all about anything now imo. Anyone participating is contributing to more death from covid.

Many of those young people will be fine. But they will bring it back to those that they love.

That is their choice but it is not the choice of those who get infected by them due to all of this. Or those who have to care for them. I have pretty much lost hope for this country at this point, there are too many stupid and hateful people.

or what is being thought/said.

that R naught value is real. The magnitude of what could happen -and how many OTHER innocent people could die is real.

The anger is real. The problem is real. But the pandemic is also real.

None of us have easy answers. But the fear - all the way around - is real.

I said the media shouldn't ignore Trump's disastrous handling of the virus and the staggering death count. For some reason our media can't handle two major stories at the same time. Don't let him skate.

The numbers are no longer shocking. We have a collective inability to stay focused. It is a shame, but it is what it is.

to keep the people entertained and pacified, but they found out the only way to keep their attention was to constantly make the shows more and more violent.

We have sacrificed over a hundred thousand souls in the arena of Trumpism, we are tired of that game and are ready to move on. Civil unrest is theater that Trump's base can identify with; something to hang their red caps on. Perhaps Trump will work to sustain the new show as long as possible. The deliberate police attacks on the press, the enemy of the people, really fire up his base. Trump is likely to arm both sides in this conflict to keep it in the news. Massacres and martyrs make for good distractions.

.. African-Americans, Latinx, the poor and underprivileged .. the folks more likely to work jobs requiring them to go back to work and put their lives on the line serving lattes to entitled folks. Add to that decades of resentment over systemic racism and brutality.

so even if we started the back side of the curve today were still looking at another 105,000 dead.

but we are not.
and with the reckless reopenings and resistance to masks and distancing and add on the protests we are a long way from the top.
the million dead that trump keeps bragging about saving us from is not out of reach.
we just need to keep working on it.
