Protesters in NYC last night were chanting "Police can suck my dick".

Not only was this sexist (women get killed by cops too) but it was like Trump-speak. Devoid of political meaning and all just tough guy attitude. Designed to incite cop-rage. The power structure is our real enemy—not these working class people.

I love this reaching across the lines. A demonstration like this is what really threatens the Trump Oligarchy.

My nephew is a cop in my family. We all dropped our jaw when he joined the police.
I know he was not raised to be like these riot police.

...in with the people they serve. If anarchists show up and start smashing windows...THEY can arrest them, WITH the help of the protesters.

Because police solidarity with the public can and will change the status quo. The 'us versus them' mentality doesn't work, only increases tension and escalates violence.

A call to Walk With Us sounds simple, even loony. But the after-effects can be enormous because it acknowledges the police officers as fellow human beings who are in place to protect neighborhoods, not whip them into a frenzy.

Walk With Us as neighbors, as Americans, as men and women with a moral compass.

Sounds simple. But it's profoundly brave and truly American. Donald Trump has his Wall. We have each other.
