Lafayette Park in the late '60s was safe for protesters.

I remember being there numerous times, sitting on the grass, listening to anti-war speeches and enjoying the 'second hand smoke'. The police were always there but they were stationed inside buildings surrounding the park. On those occasions when they were evident, they got flowers from us. Nixon was in the WH. I never imagined that there could be a worse or more dangerous president than him.
