1. Both seniors are isolating, but do go out grocery shopping

and takeout from a restaurant on occasions.

Also doctors appointments.

And... we are wearing masks!

This is on Trump actively promoting not wearing a mask. He could have rallied the nation to work together on this.

We have severely curtailed our trips out of the house. Walk the dog in the neighborhood and wear masks at stores if we must go. Generally getting deliveries of groceries.

We are older and higher risk

It sucks to curtail life but I plan to live long enough to see the bastard out and hopefully prosecuted.

Get tired a lot, and go out for walks alone, and it sucks...But I have been very sick in the past, have had a 3 cases of pneumonia, and sitting at the computer is a whole lot better than catching another case and going back to the hospital. Did I say, I do not like staying in the hospital? I just call some people, play some games, stay at Democratic Underground, and do a little reading.. One day at a time..Thanks for reading this.....Stuart

18. I'm still not going to restaurants or bars. No crowded outdoor situations either

The reason we brought the numbers down is primarily because of isolating or social-distancing behavior when one had to go out like get groceries. Masks too. The reason numbers are going back up again is because of a reduction in all of the above behaviors. Lesson: it's too early to pretend its all over. Watching and waiting, unfortunately it looks like for a long time.

it is hard to say at this point what effect the opening of schools will have. Fortunately my working days are over as far as I know, so I can at least be somewhat flexible. Just don't want to get sick of course. So I limit exposure and just sort of see where things are going. A big boat we are all in.

23. You are not alone.

I am isolating as well. Sometimes I wonder if it is because of the virus (we have been very hard hit here in Boston) or if it's because I genuinely like it.

I am kind of afraid of the virus still at this point and there is nothing I really need to leave my apartment for, other than going down to the lobby or the basement for grocery deliveries and packages. I really don't like wearing masks, but I do when I leave the apartment (it's mandatory in the building) and I certainly would if I ever went anywhere, but if I don't have to go anywhere, I would prefer to stay in my comfy apartment mask-free.

Clearly, I am not having as much of a problem with this as some other people are. I am staying in touch w/ people by email, phone, text and I work during the day all week and am in a lot of online meetings, so I don't feel very isolated.

I am kind of worried about cases increasing as things start opening back up, so I kind of want to wait and see how things develop. No word yet about going back to the office. It won't be full time - they will stagger people off and on when we do go back to make sure there is enough space between us. I don't think there has been any real disruption in business due to this lockdown - for us, anyway - work is still getting done as usual.

I think the concern is that the team/corporate culture is breaking down, but if we have to "socially isolate" once we are back in the office, what is the point? I see no sense in sitting in a cube with a mask on all day not being allowed to meet in a conference room or talk to each other from less than six feet away.

I am kind of hoping this lasts through the summer. I think we need some time to see how the lessening of restrictions pans out.

She and I visit pretty often because we're essentially family. She has a dog too.

Otherwise, I'm nonstop in my yard/garden at this time of year. Building an arbor today, very pleased with it. Planted three trees and two shrubs. Tomato plants already bearing fruit. Same with my pepper plants.

I'm having fun, but going out to bars etc has not been my idea of fun for more than 30 years so I'm good.I've never needed that crowd kind of fun. Ever.

Finally, that's paid off lol.

to a small local market and bloodwork. Even the dr appointments are online. We talk to the neighbors across the fence. Theyíre isolating also, even the younger family. They passed on attending a family graduation party. Good thing they did because several people got the virus. One neighbor has a pool and they have parties every weekend. Lots of people, no masks, no room to social distance. Looks like trouble to us. They asked us over but we declined.

due to comorbidity, then you should isolate. You maybe have to for the rest of your life IF they fail at a vaccine or if the antibodies go away or if/when the virus eventually mutates and mutates in a bad, not good, way.

be safe and all the best wishes

cheers

35. I go to the grocery-

And walk (masked) with a friend every day. I'm not very worried about being outside, but I'm always nervous in the stores.

I have sat outside at a restaurant once, but that made me so nervous, I haven't done it again.

My work has been remote for years, so I don't have to worry about going back to an office.

44. Still isolating. Shopping only about every 5-7 days, to the grocery store and maybe the

drugstore. Always wear a mask in stores. Other shopping done online. Some outdoor exercise, walking, if it isn't too hot, and I'll occasionally stop and talk to neighbors from a safe distance (more like 20 feet than 6 feet). Otherwise I exercise indoors using equipment bought years ago but not used very often previously.

I'll admit I am so damn tired of this. And I think sometimes that because I take lots of supplements and don't have any underlying conditions, and have the blood type (O) considered most resistant to getting the virus and getting very ill with it, I shouldn't worry.

But then I consider the fact that I'm in my 60s, and I hate spending any time at all in hospitals let alone weeks, and I don't know who else would take care of my cat if anything happened to me. And I continue to take precautions.

I cancelled my 6 month dentist check last week, which I don't feel great at all about putting off, but I'm going to try to wait a couple of months and see if the new cases start dropping. I have to take my dog to the vet next week, but they come to the car and get him while I wait. I'll have mask, gloves, and goggles for that. When they bring him back I'm going to take him straight home and we are both going straight in the swimming pool, which I'm keeping at a high chlorine level (5 ppm).

I'm ordering groceries on line and they bring them out to my car.

119. It doesn't have to be family.

You could negotiate terms with a friend or two you trust well.

Our terms are, when anyone has to be someplace (doctor, dentist, Veterinarian or whatever) then you do social distancing for two weeks before seeing the people in your pod. We've been coordinating our appointments to coincide. That way we have less downtime. It keeps everyone safe and if you trust the people enough in your pod it's a comfort to have others near you. Don't accept anyone who might fudge about their exposure, though. This requires explicit trust of a person. We, very sadly, bumped family (who do not know we're doing this) who we know wouldn't be truthful because they think it Covid is fake.

In the end it's about keeping you safe.

Pet shoping 2x
Bike riding 3x
Drive-through graduation "ceremony" (I'm a dean) 1x
Root Canal 2x
Doctor 2x
Restaurant 1x
Car repair 1x

~10 trips total (I usually do more than one thing whenever I go out).

60. We have had few interactions

Our oldest flew home from the east coast about six weeks ago when college ended. He stays close to home.

Dh and our oldest went camping (socially distanced) at an unimproved forest service campground with some friends.

Weíve had one of my siblings and their partner over for dinner a few times.

Weíve seen my other sibling and their spouse plus one of their kids/spouse/little kids outside in their backyard.

Other than that, we do mostly grocery pickup or curbside pickup of other items (pet food, garden supplies). I decided to run into the store the other day before I picked up my curbside order. For some reason I couldnít order cantaloupe online. Took a couple of minutes to grab it and self checkout. Masked of course.

I did go to Costco recently and will again in early July and then shift back to delivery or curbside everything until the end of January.

We are visiting my youngest in a few weeks, driving the 12 hours to get there and back. We have a hotel suite with a small kitchen. Iím sure we will go out to dinner one night, eating outside- but the state he lives in is one with very very few cases and few deaths.

I keep busy with work 5 days/ week (we arenít going back to the office until at least the end of summer and Iím guessing not until next year). I do have to do some field work this summer but Iím prepped with face shields, gloves, masks and hand sanitizer. I intend to as much as I can via video and email before meeting with folks to minimize my exposure.

Weíve gotten take out a few times. Itís fine but not entirely necessary. Generally Iím cooking 2 meals a day. We eat a lot of leftovers for lunch.

I spend as much time as possible in the yard, doing gardening.

It sucks not doing the typical bbqs with our friends but itís just the way it is right now. I zoom with coworkers after hours now and then. Life is different. I likely wonít have my oldest home for Christmas this year. Heís headed back to the east coast and lives in a state with high numbers of cases (but declining). He wonít risk it if the country is seeing a surge as it is now.

Keeping to home most of the time, wearing a mask when I do go out, ordering groceries online and having them delivered to our parked car, and occasionally getting meals through contactless carryout or a fast-food drive-up. Aside from that, staying home, enjoying YouTube, e-books, video games, and music off my distributed streaming system. No real need to go out until we get a vaccine, especially not, when you do so, seeing all the younger Karens and Chads of our area going about their usual business with no masks.

85. It's not just you!

Decided to hunker down in early March. I see my yard man from a distance every other week. I only keep in touch with family and friends on the phone and I really miss them, as well as my workouts at the Y.

My sister did drive down from Charleston to take me to an out of town endodontist appt recently. I was on painkillers and couldn't drive, so she stayed at our family's cabin in the woods and picked me up the next day. We both wore masks, rode with the AC off & all the windows partway down, and I sat in the back seat and hoped for the best. It would have been almost fun if not for contagion concerns and the amount of pain I was in.

Otherwise, aside from the occasional walk or bike ride, I stay home. If I can't get it delivered it will have to wait. Without DU and Ravelry for company I don't know what I'd do.

It is hard and lonely, but it's smart if you and your loved ones want to live through this. You're not alone - hang in there!

121. I probably would not have tried but I called the office and told her I didn't want to go in.

I did have the stuff at home to register to vote and the woman kindly, very nice, stayed on the phone with me to help me thru. Probably did not need her, I was able to follow instruction when I got the ballot. But, it was nice of the woman to encourage me to get that done.

110. Still mostly isolating

We've started venturing out to small gatherings with a few friends, and I'm probably going back to my office at least part of the time next week, but not going to crowded restaurants or bars anytime soon. My husband is more than ready to resume his normal life but I'm being a little more careful because I'm pregnant. I would like to get my hair cut eventually though. I was overdue for one even before the shutdown.

I'm hoping I don't have to go to court in person anytime soon though, especially in the city. Especially state court. Way too many people in relatively confined spaces for my comfort.

120. Tough time being pregnant and congrats. You are going to be isolating soon anyway.

How long? Exciting times in all this mess. Courts would be a tough one to walk into.

123. Thank you!

This is our second attempt after a miscarriage in December. I'm still sad that it happened and kind of annoyed that I'm only 13 weeks now despite having been pregnant for a total of six months out of the past nine, but part of me is also relieved that I am not due this month like I would have been. OTOH, things are actually getting a lot better here in the NYC suburbs, and for all we know there could be another wave in December when I'm due.

126. Ah my, you have a lot on your plate and back and forth trying to keep safe while doing what

you need. The best to you. You went thru a tough situation and I am sorry. With my two, the number one thing from the doctor. Everyone treating you well? No stress? That was the big one. And stop eating hot dogs. One of my babies really wanted hot dogs. Lol. Carcinogens.

114. Semi-isolating. Wearing my designer masks out at the stores, PO, etc.

Church now allowed for 34 people in a service. Wearing masks, distancing, communion whole lot different, no ikon kissing, wash hands b4 entering, no fellowship, no nothing. Zooming coffee hour plus group meetings. Virtual services. Questionnaire asking who plans to attend what services in June and July. I'm not attending any time soon. Have a supposed immune compromised going on since the 70's. Epstein Barr antibodies evident when testing started in the mid 80's. I get extremely fatigued just doing normal routine activity. Stress adds a double dose. When I get sick, fatigue stays with me for months. Back in the day docs wanting to prescribe anti-depressants; it's all in your head. I got ticked off bigtime. NO IT IS NOT!

Thus I am being careful to a certain degree.

Trying to find out my blood type. A, AB are more prone to a more severe infection. O less prone. So I read in a number of places. The testing availability is pretty crap. So screwed up.

127. I'm not convinced about the blood type thing.

I wish it were true since I'm O-, but I have an O+ distant relation whose been in the hospital since April 29th (ish) so, I'm not considering it more than background noise until there's further study into Covid-19. There's so much noise right now, but it's too new to have truly hard facts at this point.

130. My 81 yr old father is excited to get back into the gym. He is in Texas where it is spiking.

He doesn't think it is a big deal. Did well for a couple months, but the gym 4 or more times a week isn't smart.

133. I'm up there in years. Trying a middle of the road approach.

Not freaking out, but not being cavalier either. But the nitwits congregating close range no masking...

This outrageous rally happening. Selfish, self-serving fools.

134. O My Dog! Please don't think I was referring to your dad!

He's well seasoned and reasoned. What if he masks and takes other precautions?

I don't know. Everyone does the best they can how they're led.

Blessings to you and yours for sustained good health and safety!

I wish he wouldn't but I have no say in it. It is foolish, plain and simple.

139. My friend went to the gym with a mask. She almost died from the heat.

That was the last I heard. I think she's only 47.

Apparently masks are pretty good if you want to lose weight...and she is trying to lose weight...

Or maybe one time and then he'll curtail? 😊

131. You certainly aren't the only one!

Without going into the boring details, Iím totally rearranging three-plus weeks of my normal life in order to keep us and, in particular, my parents safe from literally the most minuscule contact whatsoever with the outside world. To be honest, if it were just me, Iíd roll the dice because the exposure Iím having to avoid is truly minimal, as in essentially zero, but someone I live with has health anxiety, so....

When I think of what weíre doing to avoid the tiniest contact, and then I see people lining up to go to Trumpís superspreader event, I feel a little envious. Except for the part about being in a cult, obviously.

For occasional grocery shopping and drives - just to get out.

Son raises hell about our going anywhere...says we are too old to be playing around with this.

We go to the grocery and the local hardware store. Always masked and gloved. Always with an atomizer of 70% isopropyl alcohol. Lots of hand washing. Doing 100% of our work on Zoom.

148. Same except once or twice per week

I might make one trip to the grocery store at night when it is less crowded.

I also play golf by myself once per week. That is the treat. So far the course has handled it extremely well. Everyone in the office is wearing masks. It's a quick grab of the key then get in the cart and get out of there.

Many of the rules have been changed. You can't touch the flagstick, which remains in at all times. They have a small PVC pipe which fits in the cup and prevents the ball from dropping fully in the hole. The flagstick sits into the small PVC pipe. The water stations and even the ball washers have been removed. Likewise the sand buckets on the carts to fill divots. The sand traps no longer have rakes. Basically any adjustment to touch as few things as possible.

The course is jammed. That is the amazing aspect. Tons more play than normal. I guess people realize this is the one activity you can do with wide open spaces and not as much risk. I drive the cart around from hole to hole to fit in where I can as a single. Often I'll play a few holes and catch up to a group. Then I depart and find another opening. Nobody from the course hassles me about this at all.
