(8,203 posts)I haven't heard of any negative reactions to the marchers, although there have been mixed feelings about the Columbus statue being spray painted red and ultimately removed. I think the vast majority of city residents supported the statue's removal.
The mayor, city councilors, board of ed members, all supported the marchers. No issues with the police during the march, either. We had about 1000 marchers in a city of 27,000, and a lot of the people who didn't march stayed away because of the pandemic.

(2,495 posts)and our BLM demonstration was peaceful and inspiring. Lots of people turned out and even the police participated to some extent.
Can you say in which County in New Jersey you live? I'm in Essex.

(3,501 posts)I can guess a couple of towns that would fit in your scenario.
It breaks my heart to think that there are people like that who may be my neighbors.
I hope that the Democratic party is active in your town - if not, let me know by DM.

(1,206 posts)I've always hated most people in this part of New Jersey (en masse - one on one they're OK) and wish I didn't live here. I've been lucky enough to live in a number of cities all over the country and North Jersey folks are the most self-absorbed assholes I've ever met.
This is not surprising. At All.
