It looks like such a nice community with terrific amenities. The housing is affordable. The services are geared towards seniors. There are tons of activities.

When I eventually retire I do not plan to work and I have looking for communities where I can keep busy, be outdoors year round, take up new hobbies and socialize. The Villages was checking off all my boxes. But now that I know that it has a lot of racist bullies openly flaunting their hatred and ignorance, there is no way I will ever willingly move there and be neighbors with those assholes.

34. My mother lived there for about 20 years...

...after my father died, and until she died in '09. I spent some time down there visiting. When she moved in there, it was the largest retirement complex in ... either the U.S. or the world, I forget which. And it has grown a lot since then.

Yes, it is mostly very conservative white upper-middle-class older retired people.

I like it that there are some SANE people there, though.

One man was holding up a poster that read:

MAKE AMERICA SANE AGAIN

I have a bumper sticker that says that.

I'd love to make America great again, of course, and the best way to begin to accomplish that is to vote that loathsome orange con man out of office on Nov. 3.

39. Nah, that is a feature and not a bug of The Villages

They were created in (mainly) rural Sumter County to be majorly white and majorly $$$. Most of these folks aren't even from FL, but retired here from the Tri-State area, and vote overwhelmingly red (I mean, really close to 90%). They literally run off neighbors who aren't as wingnut as they are.

Trump loves The Villages. I mean that literally: he mentions them, and how much he loves them all.
