What the hell is going on in Ohio and Tennessee. Their numbers jumped up 51,000 in Ohio and

43000 in Tennessee in the last 24 hours moving them both into the top 10. Where did those numbers come from. There is no way we know what the actual numbers are for states, with this going on.

TN reported over two thousand new cases in a report for two days. There was apparently some technical reason there were no cases reported for the previous day.

Tennessee with 83,000. Their information is obviously incorrect.

10. Ohio has a total of 51,046 (probably slightly over 52,000 at 2:00 PM today)

They post at 2:00 PM. You can see the current Ohio data here: https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/covid-19/home

The data reported on the https://covid19info.live/us/ is almost exactly double the actual data Since yesterdays data was apparently correct, the doubling shows up as brand new changes today (as if we had the full pandemic's worth of new cases in a single day).

9. There is a cluster of counties on the Kentucky/Ohio border with R02.0

but Ohio has not yet exceeded 1000 new cases a day - the 51,000 is not a "jump" of 51,000 - it is the total number of cases throughout the entire pandemic.

The number of new cases is growing: See this post

Ohio was being smart. It is now being stupid and we squandered all of the early investment we made in flattening the curve by (1) opening too soon and (2) giving in to the mask-slacker covidiots (when they engaged in behavior threatening enough that Dr. Acton had to have state patrol standing guard at her home). Rather than require mask wearing, DeWine decided to rely on Ohioans to do the right thing. Since they were unable to do that with indoor smoking, not sure why he thought it would work here - aside from probaby realistic fears about the state's ability to enforce the law.

As you can see at the other link, the uptick coincides with roughly 14 days after (1) memorial day and (2) reopening bars and restaurants.

Edited to correct the caption since, as correctly pointed out below, Tennessee does not share a border with Ohio. The cross-border cluster is between Ohio and Kentucky.

There is a cross-border cluster of about 8 counties (4 counties in each state), but you are correct that the state across the river is Kentucky

or go out to eat without a mask. Bars letting younger people swarm in to party. No mask no social distancing.
