Something that bothers me (re Republicans opposed to Trump)

I guess I should be happy that many Republicans are opposing Donald Trump, but something doesn’t sit right. Donald Trump is a racist, horrible human being, but so are most Republicans - and they have been for generations. Mitt Romney and George W Bush’s race, religion and LGBT intolerance gave rise to Donald Trump. Before Donald Trump tweeted about abusing police power, Bush the father fabricated a crack case on national TV and race baited with Willie Horton. General Mattis, General Kelly, and John Bolton supported the axing of the NSC’s pandemic office when they were in power regardless of what they say now after the impeachment trial is over.

Donald Trump is a horrible person, but most importantly the Republican platform is a horrible ideology which Donald Trump saw an opening to manipulate a large portion of our population. He promised the world to many desperate people for the first three years of his Presidency, and his last year in office is unraveling like a very sad Ponzi scheme. However, both Bush presidencies unraveled the same way. I can’t imagine any Republican President would not have botched the coronavirus response and response to civil unrest. I believe most Democratic Presidents would have handled these two crises ably.

I’m glad NeverTrumper Republicans will vote for Biden. However, I’m not voting a straight Democratic ticket merely because the Republicans support Donald Trump. I’m not surprised they support Donald Trump because the Republican ideology itself is FUBAR - economically, socially and humanely. I’m voting a straight Democratic ticket because the Republican ideology has never been right since after Woodrow Wilson was President. Donald Trump being more of a fuck up does not remediate those famous Republicans who now say they oppose him.

The Republicans allowed the conditions that brought tRump to us.

His creation rests squarely on their shoulders.

I cannot shake the way they lied first to Hillary then about hrr right up to the end. They can SAY that they are going to abandon Trump but it remains to be seen what they do.

the Democratic Party as the Republican Party goes off a cliff with the nuts. Then try to make the Democratic Party the old GOP we had with Bush and Reagan. Not as nuts, just all for the rich.

want to join us.

This is how elections are won: for whatever reason, those who normally occupy the other side come over to your own side.

We don't need to trust them. We don't need to give them anything as a reward. But we do need their votes.

The Earth is moving under your feet, and the sky is tumblin' down. When you kill the natural world you kill US.

Tommorow's leaders will not tolerate fracking, other wholesale environmental destruction, or the foreign and domestic killings.

There just ain't no justification to rubber stamp war crimes and klan killings.

Trump has awakened a sleeping giant, and filled him with a monumentally terrible resolve.
